Speculation is out of control about the October 23rd Apple event and the anticipated ‘iPad Mini’. During our last Gear Chat, Dan asked me about the iPad Mini, and I declared that I wouldn’t be getting one; to which he replied that ‘he’d believe it when he saw it’!
I wanted to go on record based on what we know, suspect, conjecture, and/or know about Apple in general … and put together a video list of the five main reasons I won’t be pre-ordering/standing in line/getting an iPad Mini.
Take a look, and chime in with your thoughts in the comments; we’ll know if any of us will be able to order one after the Apple event on the 23rd!
I doubt if I’ll be getting one. Since I stopped traveling for my job, I have found that I use my iPad less and less, and rely on my iPhone much more–a change that I am sure will only accelerate when my iPhone 5 (friggin’ finally!) arrives in the next week or two. Right now, I only use my iPad to watch HD movies–the aspect ratio on the iPhone is good enough for TV, and only widescreen HD movies are unwatchable on it. But the new iPhone has a 16×9 aspect ratio, and so I’m guessing that I’ll use it for more movies than I do now.
As for using it as my main driver, I just use my MacBook, and since I rarely go out (I work at home), I don’t really need a portable main driver. My iPhone gives me more than enough computing power for what I need on those rare occasions when I go out, so I don’t bring my iPad.
I realize I’m an outlier, but naw, I probably won’t be getting one. Wish my new iPhone would arrive though, durn it!
Ditto to your video! I, myself, don’t want an iPad mini, BUT I do want to get it for my ASD little guy since his iPad doesn’t fit in my purse, lol! He’s been using the iPad more and more to mimic sounds and try to communicate with, so it would be great to have a more portable version with all his apps on it!! Happy weekend to y’all! 😀
Very good point – the 7″ form factor works great for things like that!
