Withings Aura Active Smart Sleep System Unveiled at CES 2014

Withings Aura Active Smart Sleep System Unveiled at CES 2014 Withings Aura Active Smart Sleep System combines an under-mattress sleep sensor and a unique bedside device in order to take into account your entire sleeping environment so that it can improve your overall sleeping experience.  The color changing bedside device uses light and sound programs to “positively impact your sleeping conditions.”  You can read the entire press release, here.

The sleep system sends all the data it collects to a free mobile phone app so that you can visualize your sleep and learn what wakes you up or helps you sleep.  With the app, you can adjust your wake pattern as well.  The bedside device emits different colors of light depending on whether you’re falling asleep or waking up, which helps the body release Melatonin, the hormone responsible for the sleep-wake cycle.  The sleep sensor collects data such as breathing rate, heart rate, and body movements, while the bedside device watches your sleep environment including noise pollution, room temperature, and light levels.  This sleep system appears to be a very well-designed and well-rounded system that I’d love to check out.

Withings Aura will be available in Spring 2014 on Withings.com and select retail outlets for an MSRP of $299 and will come with a free mobile app.

I'm an architect by trade, but the overarching theme of my life has always been trying to keep up with the newest, coolest technology. Ever since I picked up an NES controller, I've been hooked on the latest and greatest gadgets, gizmos, and toys. Whether it's gaming, mobile phones, and accessories, or PCs and Apple products, I'm interested. I use many Apple products in my daily life, such as the iPhone, iPad, and my MacBook Pro. I've also built a few PCs in my day, so I'd like to say that I'm a pretty well-rounded techie.
