Temple Run was one of those unlikely successes – a simple ‘endless runner’ game that has you continuously running and trying to collect as many coins as possible before dying. It was the simplicity and easy charm that made the game quick to pick up and hard to put down. Now the game has passed 1 BILLION downloads!

Temple Run Series Hits One Billion Downloads

An amazing milestone for any game series, Temple Run has done it with two games on two platforms – and across just three years. Here are a few other milestones:

• Players have collectively spent over 216,018 years playing Temple Run.
• Over 32 billion games have been played.
• Temple Run players have run a total of 50 trillion meters.

Here is what one of the founders of Imangi Studios has to say:

“Having Temple Run reach the one billion downloads mark is a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when we first started out,” said Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi Studios. “We’re incredibly grateful to all the Temple Run players and our wonderful team. We look forward to continuing to grow the Temple Run franchise, as well as creating additional innovative games.”

Since releasing Temple Run 1 & 2, the company has done a couple of licensed spin-offs, and is now getting into things such as apparel, plush toys and arcade games to expand the brand.
