The Mogul Mirror Is a Screen Protector That Doubles as a Mirror

Moguls Mobile is a new mobile accessories company that was started by Daymond John, known for founding the FUBU clothing line as well as appearing as an investor on TV’s Shark Tank. Moguls Mobile has an innovative new screen protector that acts as a high-definition mirror while your phone’s screen is off. The Mogul Mirror screen protector retails for $19.99.

“How much is there to say about a screen protector?” you might ask. Well, there is a whole lot I can say about the Mogul, starting with the innovative idea. There are people out there who use the front-facing camera on their phones as a mirror, for whom this screen protector might be very helpful! Even those who don’t tend to check themselves out on their phone too often, like myself, can benefit from the Mogul Mirror since it’s an easily accessible mirror in your pocket. The other cool thing about the Mogul is that it’s a conversation starter. I can definitely see myself out with friends and them asking why my iPhone is completely mirrored. It’s definitely a neat way to personalize your phone.

Here you can see the clear reflection the Mogul Mirror gives.

Not only does it provide you with a gorgeous image of yourself, the Mogul Mirror also protects your screen from scratches. Although I wasn’t ready to test the Mogul Mirror against a sharp knife or keys, the screen protection felt secure enough for daily, non-stress testing use.

The Mogul Mirror comes with a microfiber screen cloth and an application squeegee to help ease the installation. Installation was very easy, as you just wipe your screen clean of any dust or fingerprints, then you remove one of the screen protector’s protective covers. You be sure to line up the home button opening in the screen protector with your phone, and then apply the screen protector to your phone. After the screen protector is applied to your phone, you use the squeegee to remove any air bubbles that may remain. Et Voila!

Mogul Mirror Gear Diary-001

While the idea of the Mogul Mirror is quite nice, it doesn’t perform as well as I would have hoped. The mirror does give you a very nice image of yourself while the screen is off. However, when you are trying to use your phone, the Mogul Mirror also provides you with an unwanted glare to your screen. The screen being on does not completely remove the mirrored finish of the screen protector and you can still see yourself in the screen a little more than you want to, which can be distracting. The glare factor is multiplied ten-fold when you are trying to use your phone outside in the sun.

Here, the screen is on and you can see why the Mogul Mirror may be distracting to use.

Overall, however, I would recommend the Mogul Mirror to anyone who often uses his or her front facing camera as a mirror or anyone who wants to make a statement with a mirrored iPhone. However, keep in mind that it may be difficult to use your phone in the sun.

The Mogul Mirror is available for iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, as well as the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The Mogul Mirror is also available for the Samsung Galaxy S4 and S5. The Mogul Mirror can be purchased for either phone for $19.99 directly from Moguls Mobile.

What I Like: Easy to install; Makes a statement; Crisp high-definition mirror finish; Doubles as scratch protection.

What Needs Improvement: Using the screen while the screen protector is on can be difficult due to added glare.
