Unless you’ve been living under a rock the past 24 hours, you might have heard that Samsung unveiled their newest Galaxy phones here at Mobile World Congress 2016. We at Gear Diary had an opportunity to check out both of the unique smartphones hands on!
Both devices, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge both feature an enhanced design, with a higher quality camera on top of refined software functionality. But they didn’t stop there, as they also introduced the Gear 360, their 360-degree camera that allows the user to feel fully immersed in spherical video and images.
“We believe in a world that is brighter, sharper, more convenient, and more fun. We strive to deliver on that vision with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by marrying elegant design with functionality and providing a seamless mobile experience,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics. “We empower consumers with technology to help them get more out of life and will continue to push the frontier of what’s possible.”
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and The Galaxy S7 Edge are both built with a rear camera sensor that captures 95 percent more light through a wider aperture and larger pixels to deliver brighter, sharper images, even in darker settings.
Add on the fact that they’ve included the first ever Dual Pixel sensor in a smartphone camera, both devices will autofocus on its target quicker and more accurately, every time.
The pair also both sport a curved glass back with an ergonomic body that are not just easy to hold in the hand, but friendly on your pockets. The larger edge panel on the Galaxy S7 however gives you the ability to swipe through the different screens one handed. And courtesy of the new Tasks edge screen, you can tap once to get to your applications, functions, and news, such as contacts or that selfie mode feature you’ve been trying to find a reason to use.
Sporting a Super AMOLED, Always on Display, both the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are not only water and dust resistant with an IP68 certification, you’ll no longer have to worry about it accidentally taking a dive in your sink, or worse.
On top of that, the S7 has a 3,000 mAh battery life while the S& Edge has a 3,600 mAh life, with the ability to host a microSD card up to 200GB of additional storage.
Available for pre-order today, both models will be available to the public on March 11th in both Black Onyx or Gold Platinum colors. For a list of participating locations to purchase you can head over to Samsung today!
