The Nonda ZUS Smart Car Finder and USB Car Charger Review

It’s an age-old problem: you park your car, go walking down the street to shop or dine, come out — and you’ve forgotten where you’ve parked your car! Worse yet, there’s always the chance of missing the cut-off point when your parking meter runs out of time. The solution? A nonda ZUS Smart Car Finder and USB Car Charger.

Inside this unassuming packaging lies a state of the art fast charger for your USB powered devices. The matte black body of the ZUS is composed of German Bayer Material, and the charger’s tip and USB ports have a titanium coating. The ZUS is rated for temperatures up to 100º C, and it doesn’t get hot to the touch as other fast chargers will.

The ZUS charger looks good in any vehicle, and its branding is subtle.

On each side, there is an angled charging port that will light up when the ZUS is plugged in, making the port easy to find even in the darkest car. There are also three tiny LEDs in the middle bottom of the charger that will subtly light up, showing even when two USB cables are plugged in.

If it were being sold only as a charger, I would say that its current $29.99 price was well worth it; this is one of the best and most stealthiest chargers I’ve seen, and it will look good in any vehicle or motorcycle. But the ZUS has one more trick up its sleeve: When you add the ZUS app, the ZUS will help you locate your vehicle once parked, and it will ask you if you need to enter a parking meter reminder.

Be aware that if you are parking in a multi-story garage, the ZUS isn’t going to be able to find your car. It doesn’t actually have a GPS tracker built into it; rather, it uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect with your GPS-enabled Android or iOS device to mark the place you parked when you removed your device. A few moments after you’ve stepped away from your car, the ZUS will send you a notification saying that your vehicle’s location has been saved, and it will ask you if you need to set a parking timer.

If you are parked at a mall, grocery store, or any other outdoor shopping area, the ZUS absolutely shines — it will point you directly to your car’s last recorded position, eliminating walking in circles and wandering streets looking for your parking spot.

The one major caveat: If someone steals your car, or your spouse or one of your kids moves it, you’ll get a surprise when you come back to the last marked location. But hopefully, that’s not ever going to be a typical occurrence.
