Master & Dynamic Announce Two New True Wireless Earphones

Master & Dynamic have been on a roll lately with a new product every few months. They just announced two new true wireless earphone offerings. The MW07 PLUS are an update to the spectacular MW07s while the smaller and more affordable MW07 GO offer a similar, but smaller design. Both look great but the MW 07 GO really caught my eye.

The original MW07 are amazing. They look great, have fantastic specifications, come with the most impressive metal battery case you will find and, more importantly, they sound fantastic.
The new $299 MW07 PLUS build on the original model without changing the original, and still excellent, design.

The company describes them as “the ultimate upgrade” and goes on to say this:

Our most technically advanced earphones yet, MW07 PLUS True Wireless Earphones are the second generation of the original MW07. The signature handcrafted acetate body and stainless steel case are infused with updated technical features and maintain our signature brilliant sound. With almost 3x the battery life (40 hours total playtime), Bluetooth 5.0, and new features including feedforward Active Noise-Cancelling and Ambient Listening Mode, the MW07 PLUS is the ultimate true wireless listening experience.

The MW07 PLUS look just like the original offering. They have the same metal battery case that looks amazing but is heavy and easily scratched. (Don’t get me wrong, I love it but see it’s flaws.)

The MW07 PLUS are also made from the same handcrafted acetate. It’s gorgeous, comes in a number of different colors and is far classier than most of the other true wireless earphones on the market. In addition, at the company notes, “each pair of earphones may vary in its exact pattern and color due to the material and hand finish.”

But while the earphones look the same, on the inside there are some neat updates. The new offering employs Bluetooth 5.0 for improved connectivity and quick pairing. I never had connectivity issues with my MW07s but the move to Bluetooth 5.0 is a welcome one. In addition, the new offering gets up to ten hours of playback per charge, charge to 50% in fifteen minutes, and 109% in just forty minutes. They also have an IPX5 rating so they are better able to handle the elements and four microphones for enhanced clarity when making calls.

The biggest change between the original MW07 and the new PLUS version, and the reason I’m craving a pair of the new ones, is the addition of active noise cancellation. Without making the earphones any larger Master & Dynamic packed decent ANC inside. I’m actually wearing pee-release pair that were sent to me fir review and I’m impressed. The ANC is controlled using the volume down button. While is isn’t as impactful as the ANC you’ll find in some high-end over-the-ear headphones, it does a decent job of cutting down on ambient noise. Moreover, while the earphones always sound fantastic- love the way Master & Dynamic tune their earphones- I think they sound even better with the ANC on.

Features include:

  • Beryllium Drivers: Custom 10mm drivers deliver rich, expansive sound
  • Bluetooth 5.0: Quick pairing technology and a 30m/100ft connectivity range
  • Patented Silicone Fit Wings: Available in three sizes for a custom, extra secure in-ear fit
  • Stainless Steel Charging Case: Compact, portable, and holds 3 additional charges for 40 hours total playtime

Technical Specifications of the MW07 PLUS:

MW07 GO

Master & Dynamic also announce the new MW07 Go. This is a brand new model that takes its cues from its big brother but is unique unto itself. At 7.5g VS 9g, the GO are smaller and lighter than the MW07 and are made from TR90 composite, a “durable performance material used in professional sport eyewear” rather than the acetate used in the construction of the MW07.

Master & Dynamic describes them this way:

Our most lightweight and durable earphones yet, MW07 GO True Wireless Earphones are designed for those who are always on the move. Built to withstand the toughest workouts and travel in any weather, the earphones feature an IPX6 water resistance rating and are made from TR90 composite, a durable performance material used in professional sport eyewear. Patented silicone Fit Wings in 3 sizes and ear tips in 5 sizes ensure a secure fit during any activity.

And while the MW07 GO are $100 less that the MW07 PLUS, they are still packed with features and tech. They have custom 10mm Beryllium drivers, Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX and SBC and get 10 hours of playback per charge.

They ship with the company’s patented “Silicone Fit Wings” in three different sizes.

And, of course, they come with a protective battery case. As you may recall, the MW07 come with a fancy metal battery case. It looks and feels fantastic but it is heavy and scratches easily. By comparison, the GO’s case is covered in “technical knit” material that won’t scratch or collect fingerprints. It holds an additional 12 hours of battery.

Finally, it is worth noting that while the MW07 PLUS have multiple microphones and ANC, the GO has just one microphone and doesn’t have ANC. That’s a bummer but, for under $200 you can now get Master & Dynamic’s amazing sound in a small, lighter form factor with improved water and dust protection. I’m looking forward to checking them out.
