DaVinci IQC Vaporizer Review: Few Compromises Provide an Overall Excellent Vaping Experience

The Lowdown

With a reasonable price of $229, the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer is an excellent choice. It works well with a variety of herbs, including Eucalyptus and Lavender. Of course, if you live in any of the states where medicinal and recreational use is legal, there are additional options for what you can vape with the IQC. Whatever you are vaping, we suspect you’ll be impressed.

Back in 2017, we reviewed the DaVinci IQ Precision Vaporizer and were impressed. The company recently unveiled its latest, the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer. At $229, the IQC is $70 less than the IQ2. The IQC lacks its older sibling’s Air Dial that lets users adjust the airflow, but it adds charging via USB Type-C. Let’s take a look.

DaVinci IQC Vaporizer

Highlighting Clean First technology, Temperature Control, App Connectivity, Replaceable Battery, and USB-C charging, this dual-use vaporizer has it all.

When we reviewed the DaVinci IQ Precision Vaporizer, we were impressed by its smooth curves and brushed metallic finish. We also appreciated the excellent unboxing experience and assortment of included accessories. While the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer comes in a simpler box, it is also shipped with a generous assortment of accessories.

DaVinci IQC Vaporizer

Inside the box, you get the DaVinci IQC, a removable and rechargeable 18650 battery (3,000mAh), two stickers, a user manual, a 10mm water adapter, an extra pick tool, three alcohol wipes, a brush tool, and a 3ft braided nylon USB To Type-C cable. One of the few knocks against the iQ was the use of a micro USB for charging. We were pleased to see that the new vape has been updated to take advantage of the speed and convenience of USB Type-C.

DaVinci IQC Vaporizer

The DaVinci IQC Vaporizer is 2.75” tall by 1.7” wide by 0.75” thick and weighs 5.6 ounces. Its body is composed of aluminum, and, like the IQ, there are a series of dots cut into the face. LEDs beneath the cutouts light up to display a variety of functions.

DaVinci IQC Vaporizer

On the right side, there is a Control button and a Smart Path/Temperature rocker button. To start the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer, you press the Control button five times. Once it is on, pressing the Control Button once switches the heating modes. To turn it off, you press the button five times in a row.

Like the IQ, clicking the rocker button will either change your Smart Path to change the temperature; its functionality depends on the mode you are in. When adjusting the temperature, each button press increases or decreases the temperature by one degree. That is an impressive amount of temperature control and something not often seen in portable vaporizers.

The left side of the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer is smooth, uninterrupted aluminum. As you can see, there are dimpled grips that make it easy to open the top and bottom of the vaporizer.

On the back is the aforementioned USB Type- C charging port. Employing USB Type-C is not only convenient, but it helps cut down the time it takes to recharge the device. In addition, the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer is “reverse charging compatible,” so you can use its 3,000mAh battery to top-off your phone on the go via a USB Type-C cable.

You might wonder if the Davinci IQC Vaaperizoer can be wirelessly charged; alas, it can not; this option likely wasn’t even considered due to the IQC’s all-aluminum shell.

DaVinci IQC Vaporizer

A removable 18650 Battery (3,000mAh) delivers up to 1-hour of use per charge. You can also pick up a 3,500mAh battery which will give you up to 2 hours per charge. Plus, since the battery is removable, you can carry an extra battery or two with you when you are out and about.

DaVinci IQC Vaporizer

When the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer arrives, it will have a low-profile mouthpiece installed. New in the IQC is the patented “shareware mouthpiece” crafted from an FDA-approved antimicrobial polymer. It is a feature that makes more sense than ever as we continue to deal with Covid, but we don’t recommend sharing a vape and time soon.

The DaVinci IQC Vaporizer also includes a 10mm water adapter/extended mouthpiece that can be swapped easily for the low-profile mouthpiece. As DiVinci explains,

First open the top gasket of your IQ and remove the flat mouthpiece and gasket. Insert the 10mm adapter with gasket into the top cap. Make sure to secure the gasket firmly to avoid any air leaks. Once you have installed your adapter close the top cap and insert the 10mm adapter into your favorite water pipe and enjoy.

While we appreciate the stealthy, lower profile of the device when the low-profile mouthpiece is used, we prefer the experience of using the extender mouthpiece and the familiar experience it provides.

When you lift the mouthpiece, you are presented with the battery door to the rechargeable/replaceable battery.

Next to it is a removable ceramic flavor chamber; it can be packed with herbs for additional floor or can be used for additional storage.  Like all DaVinci vaporizers, there’s no plastic to be found anywhere on the device.

Once the IQC is fully charged, it is time to use it. The DaVinci IQC Vaporizor can be used on its own, but you get far more control if you first download the DaVinci app. Sadly, thanks to Apple removing cannabis-related apps, that’s not as easy as it was when we reviewed the IQ.

If you use Android, you won’t have an issue, but if you are in Apple’s ecosystem, functionality will be a bit more limited since the app is no longer available; DaVinci is in the process of making a web app available for iPhone users, but it is not yet ready. That is a bit of a bummer, since, as we explained when we reviewed the IQ:

The app is necessary if you’d like to create Smart Paths. A Smart Path is a temperature range that the IQ will heat between for the perfect vaping experience. Smart Path One has a start temperature of 350ºF and an end temperature of 370º. Smart Path Two has a start temp. of 370º and an end temp. of 390º. Smart Path Three has a start temp. of 390º and an end temp. of 410). Smart Path Four has a start temp. of 410º and an end temp. of 430º.

The DaVinci IQC Vaporizer is still a great vape, but for now, iPhone users will be disappointed to know that it could do much more when paired with the app.

DaVinci IQC Vaporizer

Loading the DaVinci IQC is done by first opening the bottom door. It opens to reveal a large Zirconium insulated spacer ball. It not only packs the loaded herbs, but it does so without impacting the flavor when you vape.

Alternatively, you can use the dosage pods or the extract kit Davinci also sells. In fact, along with the IQC, DaVinci sent us a review sample of their $39.99 Dosage Pod Holder.

Made from brushed aluminum and reflective of the IQC’s design language, the DaVinci Dosage Pod Holder comes with 6 ceramic dosage pods. Fill each of the pods with your herb or flower of choice, and you’ll have a quick, convenient way to enjoy the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer on the go.

Once the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer is turned on, you will need to wait just 30 seconds for the vape to heat up. Once it does, you can adjust the temperature using the temperature control buttons on the side. From your, you can simply press and hold the Control Button to begin your session.

The heating system consists of a glass-lined oven that delivers heat-not-burn conduction. The airtight Air Path is made from Glass and Zirconium ceramic. That not only helps deliver clean, pure vapor but also makes the DaVinci IQC Vaporizer easy to clean between sessions.

That cleaning process is made simple thanks to the IQC’s design. You’ll first want to brush out the ash from the heating chamber and then use a Q-tip dipped in isopropyl alcohol to swab the inside of the bowl.
