Arizer Go Review: A Pocketable and Powerful Dry Herb Vape

Thanks to the folks at TVape, we recently had the opportunity to review the Zeus Arc GTS Hub. It’s a great portable vape, but what impressed us the most was the new pod system that lets you quickly change out your dry herb load. TVape also sent the Arizer Argo, which offers a different approach to quick loading and swapping.

Most small, portable dry flower vapes have a chamber into which you pack ground flower before heating and vaping. Before your next session, you’ll need to open the compartment, remove the spent flower, and then repack the chamber; after a few sessions, you need to clean the heating chamber and vapor path.

Until recently, anyone who wanted a quicker, simpler approach needed to use vape cartridges and batteries. The Arizer Go gives you almost the same convenience as a vape pen while letting you vape ground flower without the usual fuss or mess.

It is unlike anything we have previously seen. And we like it.

The small box includes the ArGo Portable Micro-Heater, a battery, a USB charger/power adapter, two glass aroma tubes, two PVC travel tubes with caps, a belt-clip carry case, two silicone stem caps, a stainless steel stirring tool, four stainless steel filter screens, and an owner’s manual.

That may sound like a lot (and it is!), but each component has a specific purpose; together, they create a convenient portable vaping system that you’ll want to take everywhere.

The system consists of the Arizer Argo and glass “aroma” tubes. The Arizer Go device is a small black box about four inches tall. Made from hard plastic and aluminum, it has a solid feel, and there is no “give” when you press on the sides of the device.

The two-tone design adds a bit of visual interest, and the small size and clean lines of the device make it imminently pocketable, which is important when considering a portable vape.

The Arizer Go has a hole in the top into which the glass tubes are inserted. Using a neutral material like glass helps keep the vapor as “clean” as possible; it also makes cleanup simple since you just need to soak the glass tubes after every few uses.

And, lest you worry that the glass protruding from the device could be damaged, the top of the unit pops up and “hides” the tube. It’s a brilliant design that protects the glass tube without making it more difficult to use the Arizer Go.

The front of the Arizer Go has a small OLED screen that displays the current temperature and battery level. Three buttons deliver a nice, tactile feel and make it easy to adjust the temperature on the go.

The device is small but still promises a battery life of around an hour and a half. Thanks to the removable battery, you can purchase a second battery and quickly swap them out for longer sessions; once depleted, it takes a little over three hours to charge the unit.

Pro suggestion: if you pick up a 18650 battery charger on Amazon, you can always keep your extra batteries fully charged.

Despite the Arizer Go’s small size, it still offers a decent amount of temperature control by holding the + or – button for ten seconds. When you do, the device will increase the temperature in increments of ten degrees. You can set it as low as 120 degrees or as high as 428 degrees, and once you find your preferred temperature, the device “remembers” it from one session to the next.

Using the Arizer Go couldn’t be easier.

After slipping a screen into the end of the glass tube, you dip the bottom of it into dry ground herb to pack it. It’s a bit like using a one-hitter but without the combustion.

We tested it with CBD flower, but you can use any dried herb.

Once the tube is packed, you insert it into the unit with the packed side down. That’s it. After that, you can lift the top to protect the glass tube and take the Arizer Go with you. When it comes time to vape, you simply push the top down, turn the unit on and wait for it to reach temperature.

This approach has the benefit of making cleanup simple. Since the ground herb isn’t actually IN the unit, the only part that needs to be cleaned is the glass tube. All you need is some warm water, a bit of isopropyl alcohol, and a Q-tip.

The Arizer Go travel case ships with two glass tubes and caps, so you can refill both ahead of time and won’t have to worry about spillage; the included protective case can hold the ArGo and both glass tubes.

Because the vapor path of so short, the vapor you get from the ArGo is a bit warmer than other portable vaporizers we’ve reviewed, but it isn’t uncomfortably hot.

A benefit of the short path is that resistance is kept to a minus; as long as the glass tube is clean and the screen is not clogged, you’ll find that drawing on the ArGo takes minimal effort.

The Arizer Go is a great vape if you want something small, discreet, and easy to use. The ability to pack two tubes — more if you purchase extra — and have them ready to go is fantastic. The small size offers a nice balance between stealth/pocketability and session length per charge. Add in the ability to swap the battery quickly, and you have a portable vape that does its job well with minimal effort.

Our only knock on the ArGo is that it uses micro USB, but the device is already a few years old, so that is understandable.
