The Lowdown

The Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger takes everything I love about the Base One charger and puts it into a charging stand that lets you keep an eye on your screen. It is an elegant, efficient wireless charger that does exactly what it promises — it charges iPhones (and AirPods with MagSafe cases) quickly and safely. Plus, it looks great whether or not there’s a phone on the charger.

Raina has the Nomad MagSafe Mount Stand I reviewed two years ago on her desk and uses it daily. I use the Nomad Base One MagSafe Charger I reviewed a few months later on my nightstand. Now Nomad has released the Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger. It brings the best features of both chargers and merges them into something elegant.

Nomad MagSafe Mount Stand

The first charger I mentioned is the Nomad MagSafe Mount Stand; it’s a heavy metal stand into which one of Apple’s MagSafe chargers can be inserted. Once the charging disk is in place and plugged in, you will not only be ready to charge but, thanks to the design, you’ll be able to see your phone’s screen while it does.

Because you need to supply your own (pricey) Apple MagSafe Charging Disk, the MagSafe Mount Stand was more of a MagSafe holder than an actual charging stand.

About a year ago, Nomad walked away from the BYOM (Bring Your Own MagSafe) approach and released the Base One. It had a MagSafe charger built into the gorgeous metal and glass charging base.

Nomad Base One MagSafe Charger

As the company explained then, “Base One delivers official MFI MagSafe charging at up to 15W with a weighted metal body and an elevated glass panel designed to complement any space.”

The Nomad Base One MagSafe Charger is a gorgeous, refined MagSafe charger. Not only is the charging coil already built in, but it sits on a raised glass surface, making it easy to place and remove your iPhone.

The only issue with the Base One is that the iPhone lays flat. That means it is impossible to see the screen while it charges, but if that’s not an issue for you, the Base One is worth checking out.

Both of those chargers are tremendous, and both are still going strong.

Now Nomad has ramped things up another notch and released the new Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger. The Stand One combines the best of the other chargers to create Nomad’s most elegant MagSafe charger yet.

The first thing you’ll notice when you get the Stand One is its weight. The box isn’t particularly large, but it has some serious heft to it, thanks to the solid metal chassis and premium glass front panel used in its construction.

The result is a wireless charging stand that weighs a bit more than a pound and a third. An anti-slip rubber on the bottom of the base keeps the Stand One in position and protects the surface it is placed upon from scratches and others types of wear.

The overall design of the Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger is similar to the MagSafe Mount Stand. But while the lines are the same, the Stand One is larger, heavier, and, as a result, more substantial.

In addition, while the MagSafe Mount Stand requires you to bring your own MagSafe charger, the Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger has a powerful 15W charger and a permanently connected heavy, braided charging cable. However, the Stand One does not ship with a wall adapter, so you must provide your own 20W USB-C power adapter.

Grab and Go: Weighing in at over 1 pound (613g), Stand One stays anchored to your table when you’re ready to grab your device and go. An elevated MagSafe charging puck allows you to wrap your fingers around your device for easy pickup.

The MagSafe charger on the Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger is similar to the Base One in design and construction. The charging disk rises a bit above the surface of Stand One.

This allows for more airflow around the phone while it charges and makes it easier to grab the phone and remove it from the stand when you need to get moving. Nomad also notes that raising the phone in this way ensures compatibility with any iPhone camera.

The Perfect Angle: Stand One offers a perfect 21º viewing angle, with effortless accommodation for both horizontal and vertical orientations. Its beautiful form and seamless function deliver a charging experience that’s both intuitive and stunning.

The front of the Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger

The elegant glass surface of the Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger’s front panel offers the same refined aesthetic as the Base One, but unlike the Base One, the Stand One holds the iPhone at an angle that makes viewing it easy. That makes this charger ideal for a bedside table or work desk.

Nomad notes that, so long as you provide a suitable wall adapter, the Stand One can deliver 15W of power to your phone while it charges. That translates to the Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger charging up to 2x faster than standard wireless chargers.

Nomad has made sure the days of slow, clunky, utilitarian wireless iPhone chargers are over. They already offer several beautiful and efficient MagSafe chargers, and the Stand One takes their catalog to a new level. I love it; I think that you will, too.

The Nomad Stand One MagSafe Charger sells for $109.95; it is available directly from the manufacturer.
