If you’re like me — constantly juggling reports, data, and emails — you know how valuable a dual-screen setup can be. But what about when you’re on the go? That’s where the 15.66″ KYY Triple Monitor Extender shines. I became hooked on using multiple displays during the pandemic, and going back to a single screen feels limiting. The KYY extender provides me with the same expansive workspace anywhere. It’s a practical, portable solution for anyone who relies on a multi-monitor setup. Best of all, it’s affordable, easy to use, and compact enough to slip into a backpack without sacrificing productivity.
While working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic and relying on Zoom to complete my tasks, I came to appreciate a multi-monitor computer setup. While it was initially a bit cumbersome for me, I quickly became comfortable and then reliant upon having various screens upon which my work could be spread. The pandemic may be over, but my reliance on a multi-screen setup has continued.
The problem comes in when I’m not working at my desk. Sure, at such times I can simply use a single-screen laptop. However, after using multiple monitors for a few years, that is far from efficient.
The 15.66″ KYY Triple Monitor Extender transforms your single-screen laptop into a triple-screen workstation, enhancing multitasking capabilities without the bulk of traditional setups. It is a fantastic way for me to have multiple screens, no matter where I am. Best of all, it is surprisingly affordable.
Let’s start with what the KYY Triple Monitor Extender is: a dual-screen extender that turns your laptop into a triple monitor workstation, all while folding neatly into your bag.
Each screen is a 15.6″ 1080P FHD IPS panel, and they’re housed in a surprisingly sleek aluminum alloy frame that feels durable without being clunky. Yes, the dual-screen setup makes it larger and heavier than many portable single monitors, but for the extra size and weight, you get two screens in addition to your laptop. That is a worthwhile tradeoff for someone like me.
Inside the box, I found the KYY Triple Monitor Extender and cables to connect it to a laptop and an outlet. (More on that in a moment.) I wish they had included a protective case or bag, but thankfully, when the device is closed, both displays are safely protected inside.
Plug-and-Play Simplicity
Setup is refreshingly simple. If you’re using a USB-C-equipped laptop, it’s literally plug and play. You don’t need to download drivers, and no software is necessary.
I just connected the included Type-C cable, and both screens of the KYY Triple Monitor Extender lit up. Unfortunately, while I love the idea of using a short cable as demonstrated in the stock image above, the ports on my MacBook Air are on the opposite side, and a longer cable is necessary.
I had my review sample up and running in under three minutes.
Much of my job entails writing, reading, preparing lesson plans, and meeting on Zoom. Thanks to this dual display, I can now do all those things from just about anywhere. Having multiple screens means I can have my source texts on one panel, Zoom or email open on another, and my primary writing in front of me, without having to tab between everything every 30 seconds. For someone juggling sermons, source sheets, and blog drafts (with a little bit of email triage in between), that’s gold.
The screen quality is solid — full HD, 178° wide viewing angles, and bright enough even in sunlit rooms. They swivel up to 235°, which means I can use one screen to mirror a document for someone sitting across the table from me. That has come in handy more times than I expected.
Portability Without the Bulk
When folded, the KYY Triple Monitor Extender slips into my laptop backpack alongside my computer, still leaving room for chargers, notes, and other essentials. The display is heavier than a tablet, but not by much, and for what it adds in productivity, I find the added weight is well worth it.
The KYY Triple Monitor Extender sits securely at the back of my laptop (between 13” and 16.5” laptops), and, thanks to its kickstand, feels stable. I wouldn’t try to use it on my lap in a moving car, but for working at a desk, café table, or kitchen counter, it’s excellent.
A Few Notes
You’ll want to be near a power source if you plan to use all three of the KYY Triple Monitor Extender’s screens for extended periods. The monitors do draw power, and some laptops won’t drive them all from a single port without draining quickly. That said, with a decent power bank or plugged in at the wall, you’re set.
If you use a MacBook with M1/M2 chips, make sure your setup supports multiple external displays; this is an Apple limitation, not a KYY one.
The power and connection ports are on the opposite side from those on my MacBook Air. That means the cable has to stretch out from one side to the other. I find that placing the cable behind the whiter setup works well, but I would have loved to have ports on both sides of the display. It would simply be cleaner.
The displays do not pivot on the vertical axis. That means I don’t always have the ideal viewing position, but it’s never bad enough for me to not use the displays.
The device does not come with a carrying case or bag. I would have appreciated a soft case that added a layer of protection when I’m not using the displays.
Final Thoughts
Despite the minor concerns and niggled listed above, 15.66″ KYY Triple Monitor Extender has more than earned its place in my mobile office setup. Whether I’m writing a sermon, fielding calls, or editing source sheets at a café, it’s just easier to think when I can see everything laid out in front of me. If you work remotely, travel often, or simply crave the organization of multiple displays, this is absolutely worth the investment.
The 15.66″ KYY Triple Monitor Extender retails for $349.99 (currently on sale for $249.99); it is available from Amazon.
