I wasn’t home when the fine folks at Door Works installed our new Chamberlain garage door opener, but my wife was. She was so happy with the new garage door opener that she sent me videos showing how silent the garage door opener was. To be fair, our old garage door opener came with the house when we bought it and it must have been around 10 years old. The old garage door opener shuddered so much it shook the house, the chain rattled so loudly that it woke the kids whose bedrooms are directly above the garage.
The garage door opener itself
If our old garage door opener was a jack hammer, then the Chamberlain garage door opener is a ninja. Seriously though, my parents have walked into our house after using the garage door and we literally had no idea they were there. The belt drive is so quiet, you can barely hear it if you’re standing right outside of the garage. The loudest sound you’ll hear is the click of the deadbolt engaging.
The garage door opener itself is a 1.25HP equivalent DC belt drive motor. It comes with an integrated battery backup that lasts for up to 72-hours after the power goes out. The motor is connected to safety sensors that automatically stop the garage door from closing if anything moves under the door while it’s in motion. The motor also uses secure code technology that sends a secure code to your garage door every time you click the remote, protecting you from signal theft. The belt and motor have lifetime warranties while the parts come with a 5-year warranty.
The control panel
The accessories that come with the Ultimate Security Bundle are top-notch. The control panel has an LED display that alternates between displaying the time and the temperature. The control panel also has motion sensors built-in that automatically turn on the garage door light when it senses movement in the garage. Motion-sensing lights is an often overlooked though highly appreciated feature in practice.
The wireless keypad
The wireless keypad is great, as it has a high-quality feel to it. We’ve purchased third-party garage door keypads in the past and they’ve felt rather flimsy. But the wireless keypad included with the Ultimate Security Bundle feels high-end as the buttons have good action to them and the flip-up cover feels secure. Best of all, the wireless keypad works 100% of the time, unlike the other wireless keypads we’ve used in the past.
The automatic deadbolt
The automatic deadbolt is the pièce de résistance to the whole package. The deadbolt is attached to the vertical track on which the garage door travels. It automatically engages when the door is closed, meaning that no one is able to force their way into your home through the garage door. I feel much more secure in my home knowing there’s a deadbolt keeping the garage door closed. Plus, it makes a satisfying “ker-chunk” sound when it clicks into place.

Chamberlain’s garage door opener has Wi-Fi connectivity via MyQ Smart Home built-in. MyQ is Chamberlain’s smart home service. Once your garage door opener is connected to your home’s Wi-Fi network and you’ve got the MyQ app set up, which is all super simple, you’re set to control your garage door from your phone. There are tons of MyQ-compatible products, including Alarm.com, Google Assistant, IFTTT, Nest, Honeywell, Wink, and more.

Using the MyQ smartphone app, you’re able to see the status of your garage door, open it, close it, and get real-time alerts when your garage door opens, closes, or has been left open for a specified amount of time. It’s a huge help if you’re on the go and want to check in on what’s going on at home or want to open your garage door for a neighbor, friend, or handyman.
