The perfect summer accessory has leveled-up thanks to Rheos Gear and their floating sunglasses. Rheos was kind enough to send my wife and I “his and hers” sunglasses for testing and review, so read on to find out what we thought.
Rheos sent us a pair of their Anhingas for myself in Gunmetal/Rose and they sent us a pair of Waders in Tortoise/Gunmetal for my wife. All of their sunglasses are made of a durable plastic that’s 20-30% lighter than other brands of sunglasses. They feature polarized lenses with 100% UV protection to keep your eyes safe. All of the sunglasses also have built-in comfort grip nose pads to keep the glasses on your face no matter the activity, from boat trips to a sweaty run on the beach, or even a slip and slide. My favorite feature of these glasses is the fact that they float. I lost my previous sunglasses while diving into a lake on July 4th, so that’s not something I want to do again. I tested the Rheos by diving into a pool this past weekend and I’m happy to report that they instantly floated back to the top of the water for easy retrieval.
As soon as we opened our Rheos boxes, we were initially surprised with the weightlessness of the glasses as we’re used to heavier sunglasses. The plastic Rheos uses to make their sunglasses really does make a difference when holding and wearing the glasses. Right away, my wife put on her Waders and commented on how clear the polarized lenses were. Not only did they look great on her, but she could see as well as she could through a much more expensive pair of sunglasses.
The glasses feel great on our faces for long periods of wear thanks to their lightweight and the comfort grip nose pads. They look great too thanks to Rheos’ design aesthetic. The rose lenses on my Anhingas beautifully contrast the matte gunmetal grey finish of the frames while the Rheos logo looks great in stark white on the arm of the sunglasses.
Rheos sunglasses have a lot going for them and we’re glad they sent us a couple of pair to try for ourselves. With the fashion-forward designs, polarized lenses, UV protection, lightweight, and added ability to float, can you go wrong? The only downside is they’re not likely to be mistaken for high-end sunglasses anytime soon, but these shades were built for fun in and around the water…where expensive sunglasses should not be found.
