One of my favorite applications for iPhone is Wunder Radio (iTunes / review) . In addition to receiving radio stations both locally and world wide, police scanners, weather radio and more – the iPhone application allows me to listen to Sirius Satellite radio while away from my desktop computer. I’ve been waiting eagerly for Wunder Radio to appear on the BlackBerry and today it’s available in the BlackBerry App World for $9.99. Unfortunately the version that’s available only works on BlackBerry Bold and Curve. A version will be available later for the Tour and Storm. Also regrettably missing from the new BlackBerry version is the ability to listen to Sirius Satellite radio.

Wunder Radio claims to provide access to over 36,000 radio stations as well as talk, sports, weather and public service (police, fire) broadcasts.

Over 36,000 radio stations on your Phone!

Wunder Radio provides a quick and easy way to listen to thousands of streaming Internet radio stations and other audio streams on your iPhone or Windows Mobile Phone. Download the application to your phone today and browse the enormous directory of stations provided by RadioTime, searching by location and over 400 different genre such as music, talk, sports, and entertainment.

The opening screen for Wunder Radio allows you to select from broadcast stations located in your area. To determine your location the application uses the BlackBerry GPS.

There are a surprising number of local stations that can be received over the Internet – and in turn on Wunder Radio.

Unfortunately there’s no ability to tune in Sirius Satellite Radio as you can do on the iPhone version of Wunder Radio.

If you’re a fan of talk radio – there’s a huge list of nationally available shows that you can now listen to on the BlackBerry version of Wunder Radio.

One nice feature of Wunder Radio is that it receives local police scanner broadcasts that enthusiasts re-broadcast over the Internet.

Here’s a short list of what is available in my area – there are many more agencies available to listen to. Unfortunately since most of these broadcasts are hosted by volunteers who’ve attached their police radio to the Internet the availability of specific streams can be unpredictable.

The cost of Wunder Radio is $9.99 and it’s available today for BlackBerry Storm and Curve users in BlackBerry App World.

What I Like:
– GPS selection of closest stations
– Background playing of music
– Selection of police scanners

What Could Be Improved:
– Add Sirius Radio feeds
– Add support for BlackBerry Storm and Tour

Is there any chance that they will add the ability to listen to sirius? that was a huge disappointment for me too. Is there any way we could try and convince them to?
