Last December I wrote about the promising online RPG Murim Wars, an innovative game that sought to push boundaries by bringing the online gaming experience across PC, iOS and Android. After it launched I played a bit, but the game was really not in a style that captured my interest. This must have been true for many others as well. The game is getting shut down on July 1st and the process has already begun- when I went to install the game it showed up as ‘not available in your country’ already!
Here is what the notice says:
With a sadness in our hearts, we would like to announce you that from 1st of July 2013, we are stopping service of our game Murim Wars.
Even the number of players still enjoying the game, we would rather our hard-working engineering and IT staff focus on keeping a positive experience for the other customers, playing our more popular games, especially Genesis.
We really hope you have gotten many hours of enjoyment out of this game and we appreciate your ongoing patronage.
The decision to retire older games is never easy. Our development team and operational staff pour their hearts into the game almost as much as the customers playing the game and it is hard to see Murim Wars retired.
But as a games get always replaced with newer titles, eFusion is now working hard to launch many new titles which will all players enjoy even more.
The message is clear – no one is playing Murim Wars, but their other game World of Genesis has taken off, so they need to focus resources. It is interesting to see it called an ‘older game’, but then I remember it was a PC game long before it came to iOS and Android. Hopefully they will bring new games to the online RPG market that engage more players.
Did you ever try Murim Wars? What did you think?
