While in New York for a CE Week event last week, I had a chance to spend some time at the Monster headphones booth. While there, I saw the Monster Inspiration Active Noise-Canceling Headphones which Judie had reviewed and loved. (Read the review.) The White Tuxedo Monster DNA Headphones I reviewed were also on display. (Read my review.) There were also a pair of strikingly bright headphones that caught my eye; these were the upcoming iSport Freedom headphones.
The iSport Freedom headphones are Monster’s first-ever on-ear wireless headphones. The iSport Freedom headphones are water-resistant, anti-microbial and sweat proof. Inside the iSport Freedom headphones is advanced Bluetooth technology that offers, to use Monster’s own words, “exceptional wireless sound quality for both music and phone calls”.
As Monster explains,
Freedom delivers seamless and superb wireless audio, so active users can focus on their workout without ever having to worry about tangled wires or any disruption. In addition to pioneering the inclusion of AAC and APTX for an unmatched wireless music performance, Monster meticulously engineered Freedom’s advanced microphones to deliver the clearest possible phone conversation performance for total versatility in the office or in the gym.
The headphones have specially designed antimicrobial soft ear cushions that help ensure bacteria-free comfort. And the rechargeable battery is powerful enough to provide over 30 hours of music playback and calls per charge. The iSport Freedom wireless headphones includes a 3.5m ControlTalk Universal microphone cable, so you can use the headphones in wired mode. In all, these bright Bluetooth headphones are packed with features.
This all makes for a nice package, but what really matters is whether these Bluetooth headphones sound good or not. On that front I am happy to report that … even in a loud, crowded event hall they sounded great. Seriously, the headphones are light and comfortable AND they sound really, really good. I was impressed, but I was disappointed to learn that it will be a few more weeks before they start to ship. (Yeah, I’m impatient like that.)
The Monster Freedom Bluetooth headphones will be available in neon green in the UK on July 14th for a suggested retail price of 240 GBP, with U.S. availability to follow. Check out all of monster’s headphones here.
