V-MODA XS

V-MODA’s headphones have won us over in a big way. We reviewed and loved the V-MODA Remix-In-Ear, the V-MODA M-80 and the amazing V-MODA Crossfade M-100 over-the-ear headphones. Now the company has released their latest creation. The V-MODA XS offer a sleek, ergonomic and promise great V-MODA sound. They look, and we expect sound, fantastic.

I love the fact that they maintain the same, immediately recognizable design as the company’s other on-ear and over-the-ear headphones. And, of course, these are customizable so you can get one-of-a-kind looks to go along with your great sound.  V-MODA is marketing the V-MODA XS as offering “Sleek Ergonomix for Better Sound.” As the press material explains,

The angles and sleek headband design of the XS “mind the gap” by minimizing the unsightly space between the headband and your head. The result is a superior fit, added comfort, grander sound and a compact profile. 5+ years of R&D resulted in a wind-tunnel worthy design that contours evenly to the shape of your head, with angles that frame facial features. Enjoy long listening sessions comfortably with supple memory foam cushions that naturally adapt to your ears for faster “burn-in” and better noise isolation. The result of the meticulous design process behind the XS is a fashionable form-fitting design that elevates your listening experience; discover why “the fit is the sound.”

In other words, the headphones are designed to offer V-MODA’s great sound along with a lower profile that offers good looks and great comfort.

There’s no question V-MODA is marketing these as fashion-forward headphones. — just look at the imagery used on the product site! These are, however, more than a pretty face. The people behind V-MODA are musicians and it shows. Their products all sound great. Better still, they are tough. Made from a combination of steel and metal materials, these are designed to stand up to military-level standards of the MIL-STD-810G testing guidelines. As such they:

  • Have minimal sound variance from unit to unit, checked along six parts of the sound curve versus 10-30dB+ of inferior products
  • Have Kevlar-reinforced detachable cables and 45-degree plug strain relief can each bend more than 1 million times, over 100x industry standard
  • And are put to MIL-STD-810G environmental tests including high and low temperatures, humidity, salt spray and UV exposure.
