Incipio offGRID Backup Battery LED

I’m hesitant to describe the Incipio offGRID Portable Backup Battery 4000mAh as “cute” but it’s actually kind of cute… for an external backup battery. The bright colors, soft-touch material and cable-holder come together in a rather attractive way. Add in the accessible price of $49.99 and you have an impressive way to stay charged on the go.The six bright colors offered by Incipio range from Blue to Yellow and more.

The battery is a simple affair that packs a decent amount of power into a relatively small package. That means it is simple for you to throw it into your gadget bag and forget about it… Until you need it of course. The battery has four LED lights that let you know how much charge remains. A small power button triggers the LEDs and shows you whether you can use the battery to recharge your phone or… You need to charge the battery itself. A long press turns the battery on and lets it get to work.

On the end there is a microUSB charging port for recharging the battery and a full-size USB port into which a smartphone charging cable in inserted.

The battery doesn’t have a built-in flashlight or any other gimmicks that make it more complex. If it is simplicity you want it is simplicity you will get. With one exception…

You see, the battery ships with a short USB to microUSB recharging cable a “cable management band” that lets you keep the cable with the battery at all times. After all, what good is an external battery if you can’t actually use it?
