Nixeus ER-BKSL14 In-Ear Headphone Stereo Headset Review

Nixeus offers their Nixeus ER-BKSL14 headphone stereo headset with corded microphone and volume control in sharp silver and black colors. This headset might give the initial impression of an uncomfortable fit, but that is far from the actual truth. These in-ear headphones are very light and comfortable with solid sound quality; they have well-designed construction with 13mm neodymium drivers.

Even though the design is in-ear (a.k.a. earbud that is usually outside and partially in the ear canal), this earphone do not stress the ear canal or depend on it to stay in place. This set just curves in comfortably (ear buds facing the inside) while having enough room to produce a nice sound without shutting yourself from the world.

The Hype

The Nixeus ER-BKSL14 In-Ear Earphones feature large 13mm Neodymium Drivers – larger than most other ear buds or earphones. Specifically engineered to deliver premium quality sound and full audio range for music, videos, and gaming – producing clear sound in the lows, mids, and highs without the need to adjust for higher audio volume!

Premium features include an in-line microphone with volume control for music and voice calls with your smart phone. An integrated tangle free cord prevents frustrating knots and a compact premium hard shell carrying case allows you to store and carry your Nixeus earphones. A 3.5mm 4-pole audio jack ensures compatibility with all your audio devices. For compatibility with computers and older devices, an included audio/microphone adapter cable also allows you to use the Nixeus Earphones for online video conference chats and communication in PC/Video games.

The Reality

NexiusHeadphoneIncluded

This Nixeus ER-BKSL14 headphone stereo headset comes with the earphones, spare ear bud covers, a special adapter/extension cable, and carrying case.

NexiusVolumeControl

The earphone have an in-line mic with volume control on the 3.4 foot (1.2 meter) tangle-free cord (the only logical spot) with a pause/play button.

Sound quality was not reduced when using an extender (not included or needed in most situations) to lengthen the cord through several stationary and active applications. Great for Skype and other applications.

The three pairs of interchangeable spare ear buds come in small, medium and large size. These 7.2 ounce earphones are great for travelers, active health use, and mobile users as well as home use like on the PlayStation 4 game console (in the controller).

NixeusExtensionJack

The included audio/microphone (3.5mm) adapter cable for compatibility on PC and Apple/Mac computers as well as other devices. The color coded jacks help distinguish the split as well.

case

The hard shell carrying case keeps these quality earphones intact and can store the accessories on the side net pouch. The durable zipper never catches on the well designed interior. It’s pocket-sized for easy transport too, which makes it even easier to carry it everywhere you go.

NexiusSNCase

I peeled off the serial number sticker from the initial spot and put it in the carrying case at an ideal spot for possible future use. A slip-in pouch or more adhesive material spot would have been better.

Here are some important specs:

  • 13 mm neodymium drivers for premium sound quality & full range audio
  • RoHS compliant
  • Impedance: 16 ohm
  • Sensitivity: 100±3dB S.P.L: 93db at 1KHz
    Frequency response: 20Hz-20KHz

Neodymium is a silver metal that is fairly common used because they improve sound quality (the ear buds contain tiny magnets that make big, high quality sound as they vibrate a diaphragm from an electronic signal).

Nixeus is putting themselves on the market map in solid fashion here with this quality headset. Designed in the United States and made in China (where most neodymium is mined), this headset has a limited lifetime warranty (against manufacturing defects when purchased from authorized re-seller and registering at nixeus.com (two years without registering).
