Raina and I were visiting friends in Florida. They had a Lexus IS250. I drove one for six years, and the bucket seats were even more comfortable than I remembered. It occurred to me that a desk chair with the same design would be awesome! Well, the $349 RapidX Ferrino Desk Chair is just that — a bucket seat-inspired chair!
The fact that the chair has a look and feel similar bucket seat is no accident. As RapidX makes clear,

This is not the chair for someone who wants something understated in their office. Sure, my black on black review sample is the most subtle of the line. It doesn’t scream for attention, but it doesn’t fade into the background either. The other color combinations, however, are a bit bolder. They include Green on Black, Blue on Black, Brown on Black, Pink on Black, Red on Black, White on Black.
You won’t notice it on my review sample, but there is a single 2.5” strip of material that wraps around the perimeter of the chair. This is where the contrasting color is found on the other chairs. Its placement there, as well as the use of a single strip of material, is intended to not only make a visual statement but apparently helps increase the chair’s durability.
The chair ships in a few pieces. There is a section for the seat, the back of the chair, the base and casters, arm pieces and pillows for neck and lumbar support. It took just a few minutes to go from this to this…
The back of the chair uses diamond-pattern stitching and looks nice in my sample. On the other chairs, however, this sticking is done in the contrasting color and makes a bold statement. As the company notes, “the contrast creates a sharp, sporty aesthetic that few computer chairs can keep pace with.” I like it. Raina’s not exactly sold.
Aesthetics matters when you are looking for a new chair for your office, but what matters the most when it comes to chairs is the comfort. On this front, the RapidX Ferrino Desk Chair has you covered. I’ll let RapidX explain why. As they note,

This is also known as tennis elbow but, in this instance, we might better refer to it as “office-worker elbow.” If we want to get technical, “Epicondylitis is a type of musculoskeletal disorder that refers to an inflammation of an epicondyle.” I’ve never dealt with it, but it sounds painful. To help address this issue, the Ferrino office chair has highly adjustable armrests.
They can be raised or lowered by three inches. They can slide forward and slide sideways.
They can even be positioned at three different angles so you can find the position that is most comfortable. Best of all, these adjustments can be made in seconds, and you can constantly readjust the armrest throughout the day as your activities and comfort level changes. In short, just as the material used for the chair was chosen for comfort, so too were the armrests designed to keep you comfortable throughout the day and into the night.
The RapidX Ferrino Desk Chair has one more trick up its sleeve. The company refers to this as a “powernap-friendly backrest.”
The chair has a lever on the side that is similar to the recliner adjustment on manual bucket seats. With this adjustment, you can go from sitting upright in the chair one minute.
Then recline the chair up to 155 degrees and take a power nap.

At $349, the RapidX Ferrino Desk Chair isn’t the least expensive office chair on the market. It’s not made of leather or breathable mesh. The armrests are made from PVC that looks and feels like what it is. In other words, on paper, this chair may not look like a high-end, office or gaming chair. But that’s on paper. In actual usage this chair is impressive. It looks like a bucket seat from a sports car and is as comfortable. The support it offers is excellent, the adjustable seat and armrests add to the comfort, and the powernap-friendly feature is great. Add to this the inclusion of both neck support and lumbar support pillows, and you have a gaming and office chair your body will appreciate.
