I constantly misplace my wallet so, for the past year I’ve kept a Tile Slim tracker in my wallet. Now Nomad has released a minimalist wallet specifically designed for use with a Tile Slim. I’m a fan. The $79.95 Nomad Slim Wallet with Tile Tracking is gorgeous. A Tile Slim is included, and there’s a special slot just for it.
As the company noted:
The Nomad Slim Wallet with Tile was designed to be the only wallet you’ll ever need. Slim Wallet holds up to 15 cards and has a stealth pocket that hides a Tile Slim. The integrated Tile Slim uses advanced Bluetooth and crowdsource location technology to help you keep track of your wallet so that you never lose it. We’ve used our signature, American-made, Horween leather for Slim Wallet. This minimally treated, veggie tanned leather is crafted to patina over time, ensuring it develops a look that is uniquely yours.
My current wallet wasn’t designed to hold a Tile tracker. That isn’t an issue since I use one of the slots intended for a credit card to hold it. That slot, however, is significantly larger than the Tile Slim and the Tile often interferes with a credit card when I go to put it back after use. Yes, I know, it is a First World problem. Still, having the option to use a wallet that was designed with the Tile Slim in mind is pretty neat.
I like having a Tile in my wallet because the Tile Slim works in tandem with my iPhone and the Tile app to help me locate the wallet when it gets lost in the cushions of the couch. There’s more to it than that, however. Last week, I got home and could not find my wallet. I looked and looked, but it was nowhere to be found. So I fired up the Tile app and was quickly able to confirm that it was last seen in my office at the synagogue. I was able to relax and, the next day retrieved the wallet.
The Tile uses Bluetooth technology, so it is good at finding items when they are close by. But that’s not the only way Tile lets you track your items. When you are too far away from your Tile-tagged item, you can use the Tile Community to “crowdsource the discovery of your wallet if lost.” In other words, it isn’t just your Tile app that located items. The entire community can aid in the search.
Perhaps best of all, using Tile is simple. You activate a new Tile once and pair it with your phone and the app. It the. Works for about a year. When the year is up, and the battery is running down you can replace the “old” Time with a new one at a discounted price.
Integrated Tracking: The Tile app enables you to pinpoint your wallet’s location at all times. Activate once for approximately one year of sustained tracking, and use the Tile Community to crowdsource the discovery of your wallet if lost.
The included Tile Slim is hidden away in what Nomad refers to as a “Stealth Pocket.” It is a small, inner pocket that is sized for the Tile Slim and has a “false liner” of material that not only secures the Tile inside but also keeps it hidden out of view making it, “undetectable by thieves – keeping your wallet trackable even if stolen.” It is a smart design that reflects the fact that this wallet was specifically built with Tile tracking in mind.
The wallet features:
- Integrated Tile Slim for location tracking
- Hidden sleeve to secure Tile Slim
- Holds up to 15 cards with two cash pockets
- Minimalist slim design
- Horween leather from the USA
- Develops a rugged patina
The wallet is made from the same beautiful Horween Leather we have seen Nomad use in other products. It is gorgeous, soft leather that, over time, darkens and acquires scratches and blemishes that make it your own. I love the look and feel of “well-loved” leather, and this is a wallet made from exactly that. Add to it the fact that the workmanship that goes into creating the wallet is fantastic and you have a wallet that looks and feels great right out of the box and will only improve with time.
We set ourselves apart by meticulously selecting premium materials to compliment your most important accessories. We source this leather from the renowned Horween Leather Co. of Chicago, one of America’s oldest tanneries. Over time, this raw, vegetable tanned leather develops a patina, creating a handsome, rich character unique to you.
The wallet itself falls securely in the “minimalist wallet” category. It is small enough to easily fit inside your front or back pocket but it large enough to hold up to 15 different cards thanks to the four card slots, the two cash slots and an additional quick access pocket on the outside.
Storage Capacity: With 4 card slots, 2 cash slots, and 1 quick access pocket, we have designed Slim Wallet with Tile to be the only wallet you need. With the ability to hold up to 15 cards, this wallet will get you to where you need to go.
In other words, those individuals who move from a full-sized wallet during the work week to a minimalist wallet on the weekends can now have a single wallet that does it all.
I’m impressed with the new wallet. It looks and feels great, and I love the fact that it was designed with the Time Slim in mind. I am disappointed that the wallet doesn’t employ RFID blocking material that can keep crooks from scanning cards as you walk down the street. Hopefully, it will be part of the next version.
That small complaint aside, the new Nomad Slim Wallet with Tile Tracking is a great addition to Nomad’s lineup. It has the same gorgeous leather we have seen in other Nomad products, is constructed with the same attention to detail as all of Nomads products and, thanks to the included Time Slim, can be tracked if lost. Considering the fact that a single Tile Slim is $30, the actual cost of the $79.99 wallet is under $50. (Yeah, thats some serious “Dan math” but getting a $30 Tile Slim as part of an $80 leather wallet is pretty impressive.) Check it out here.
