The Lowdown

The Eufy RoboVac X8 is a powerful, quiet, and iPath Laser Navigation system enabled robot vacuum that can detect and avoid obstacles, climb over doorsills, and has multi-floor mapping so it can be used anywhere in your home without getting lost. Its long-lasting 5,200mAh battery can clean for up to 180 minutes, and UltraPack Dust-Compression allows its bin to hold up to 600ml, so you won’t have to empty it quite as often. It works equally well on hardwood and carpet, and BoostIQ kicks in when it needs a bit more sucking power. This is a great cleaning tool, and if you get one, you won’t be disappointed.

Cons

  • Nothing

We’ve tested several Eufy robotic vacuums in my house, and the one thing my wife and I agree on is that the Eufy RoboVac X8 is the best we’ve tested so far. The combination of twin-turbine technology and iPath laser navigation makes the X8 an excellent choice for your next robotic vacuum.

As I mentioned above, the Eufy RoboVac X8 features twin-turbine technology, meaning that there are actually two separate vacuums working at once at 2000Pa each to clean your floor. This increases airflow by 80%, so you can clean much more efficiently while also cleaning up to 57.6% more pet hair when compared to a single turbine robot-vac.

The battery is 5,200mAh; it’s able to run for up to 180 minutes on one charge, which is enough to cover a nice-sized house.

The iPath Laser Navigation system helps the X8 memorize your space and build a digital map, which allows it to create the most efficient cleaning route. It was amusing to watch on the EufyHome app as the vacuum created and built the map. Then, the Eufy RoboVac X8 mesmerized me as I watched it follow a very precise and efficient path through the room, making sure each and every square inch was covered.

Once the map and route are created, you can also use the EufyHome app to create multi-floor maps, where the vacuum will know which floor it’s on. You can also customize the cleaning areas, create no-go zones, and more.

I also liked that you have the option to tell the vacuum to cover the floor twice during the same cleaning, which allows it to pick up the most dirt possible while you’re out doing errands.

While the dust box on the Eufy RoboVac X8 seems slightly small, I haven’t ever seen it fill up all the way. This can be attributed to the UltraPack Dust-Compression feature, where the sheer force at which the dust is sucked into the container helps increase the volume utilization by around 127%. This helps ensure you don’t need to keep emptying the container over and over.

We typically empty the dust container after every two rounds even though it’s not totally full because we like having the satisfaction of seeing how much dirt it has picked up.

EufyHome app

We’ve talked about the EufyHome app in previous RoboVac reviews, but it’s worth repeating that it’s one of the better smarthome apps out there. With the EufyHome app, you can do an automatic clean, which is a room clean where you can tell it to go over the area twice if you want, a zone clean, where you can select a specific zone within a room, or a spot clean.

You can also change the suction levels from pure to power, turbo, or max, and you can also turn on BoostIQ, which auto-boosts the suction power depending on the type of floor the RoboVac encounters.

You can also set schedules within the app, check the cleaning history, set up voice settings, and much more.

We found the Eufy RoboVac X8 to be an excellent vacuum, capable of keeping one of the most trafficked areas in our house clean, which was especially notable since it has a deep pile carpet.

I was impressed at how well it mapped out the room and selected the most efficient route to clean the room. It was honestly entertaining watching the Eufy RoboVac X8 run for the first time after it had mapped out the room.

The dustbin filled each time we ran the Eufy RoboVac X8, which proved the vacuum was working well. The vacuum is also fairly quiet, which is a great touch.

Finally, one thing that I’m really happy about is that the wheels are tall enough that the RoboVac X8 can travel from our den to the bathroom, over a threshold, without getting caught, which is excellent for people with similar flooring conditions. The vacuum can climb up to 18mm, which should handle most inside doorsills and flooring transitions.

  1. I like the customization options for cleaning that this has. I’m not sure that being able to climb 18 mm would be enough to get into our kitchen; I’d have to measure it, or just try it.
