The Lowdown

The BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Shorts are not just swimming trunks but are, instead, do-everything summer apparel.

Overall
4.8

Pros

  • Great material
  • Excellent color and pattern options
  • 5″ or 7″ inseam
  • Made from Recycled materials
  • Have an inner mesh liner with MyPakage that is effectively a pair of boxers inside the shorts
  • They dry quickly

Cons

  • The drawstring at the waist seems a bit long

Since first reviewing BN3TH’s boxer briefs, I have been a fan of the company. I like their designs, their comfort, and their unique features.; in fact, their boxers and long johns are the only ones I wear these days. The company has released its new BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short; it’s a unique swimsuit, and with it, I’m ready for summer!

I’m a fan of BN3TH’s boxers and long johns for a few reasons. I like the materials they use and the fact that they employ more and more recycled materials. I like the fun patterns — yeah, there is something fun knowing you have jellyfish on your boxers when you head into an important meeting — and I find their “3D MyPakage Pouch Technology” exceptionally comfortable. The MyPakage Pouch Technology is exactly what it sounds like it would be. I’ll let you visit the company site to read about it.

The combination has made me a solid fan of BN3TH, who wears their products constantly; in fact, I’ve since picked up some sleepwear and plan to get a pair or two of joggers at some point.

Now the company has taken their knowledge and experience, and their MyPakage Pouch Technology, and brought it to a swimsuit.

However, while BN3TH states, “The world’s best underwear just became a swimsuit,” the Aqua Volley 2in1 isn’t just a swimsuit; it will be my new summer uniform.

Colors the BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short is available in

The BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short was released in a few patterns and colors; I was sent a bright, rainbow-striped pair for review.

My only complaint is that the drawstring seems a bit long, but that may be a personal preference.

My wife Raina was surprised that I like them, as I tend to be a solids and grays guy, but the bright colors look fun! And that’s what summer should be about.

The BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short is made from soft material that feels great in the hand and on the body, and I love that it is made from recycled materials. The shell is a lightweight, recycled poly stretch fabric. The bright colors on the striped review sample pop; I like these so much that I also picked up a solid pair; both look great.

The BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short has mesh pockets that are deep enough to hold essential items but, thanks to the perforations, allow water to flow in and out easily. Guys will know exactly why this is a big deal and why avoiding those “bubble-up mishaps” is a welcome design feature.

A zippered pocket at the rear is excellent if there is an item you need to keep extra safe. Of course, none of the pockets are waterproof, so you’ll want to choose what you put into any of the pockets carefully.

The shorts have a soft, breathable liner the company calls their “Entourage Lite liner.” It is made from an EcoDry fabric from 100% recycled post-consumer water bottles.

But don’t let the fact that the liner is made from your old Desani bottle fool you. The liner is exceptionally breathable, dries quickly, and, as BN3Th puts it, “ensures everything stays snug, secure, and separated. ”

Juliet Korver, BN3TH’s V.P. of Product, explains,

Our Entourage amphibious base layer, made with EcoDry fabric, has been proven in and around water from the heavy waves of Hawaii’s North Shore to pool cabanas in Cabo and everywhere in between. And building off the Entourage’s successful reputation for water sports, we were able to take a “lite” version of this fabric and use it as the liner in our first-ever 2n1 swim short — the Agua Volley.

The fabrics used to create the Aqua Volley look and feel great and are made entirely of recycled materials. Together,

The soft, breathable Entourage Lite 2n1 liner is an unnoticeable second layer between your sensitive areas and the lightweight exterior shell. This ensures everything remains secure, free from chafe, and all moisture gets wicked away.

All of this is great, but none of this is all that unique. No, what makes the Aqua Volley is the inclusion of their 3D MyPakage Pouch Technology. Okay, with apologies, let me overshare a bit… but for a reason.

I always buy swim trunks with liners but have never felt well enough “supported” by them. As a result, if I thought I would be doing anything more than lounging around by our pool, I would often throw on a pair of boxer briefs. It was more comfortable on numerous levels. As mentioned, these days, all of my boxer briefs are from BN3TH, and they all have the company’s unique support feature.

What sets the Agua Volley apart from any other short on the market is that they effectively have a pair of BN3TH boxers built into them. And it is that feature that makes the Aqua Volley “stretchy, lightweight, and unrestricted while still providing the security of MyPakage Pouch Technology.”

The company notes that,

Unrivaled support from a swim short. The soft, breathable Entourage Lite 2n1 liner is an unnoticeable second layer between your sensitive areas and the lightweight exterior shell. This ensures everything remains secure and free from chafe, and all moisture gets wicked away. The Agua Volley is stretchy, lightweight, and unrestricted while still providing the security of MyPakage Pouch Technology.

BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short Review: You'll Want It to Be Your New Summer UniformThe only mistake the company made with the Aqua Shorts is that they keep referring to them as swim shorts while, in their description, they make it clear that these are much MORE than simply for swimming. For example, they note,

For those with an active lifestyle in and around the water, there’s really no need to take these off. Whether it’s morning beach runs or sunrise yoga, the Agua Volley 2n1 moves with you through repeated sweats, dips, dry-offs, duck dives, and dunks. It’s got a fun-loving vibe on dry land, yet it also functions properly when fully submerged — allowing water to flow easily through the breathable fabric.

In other words, even they know the BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Shorts are not just swimming trunks but are, instead, do-everything summer apparel.

Yes, they are great for swimming. The mesh material allows air to escape when you jump in; the material feels great and dries quickly. But, thanks to having a pair of boxers built in, you can also wear them (the solid ones in particular) to hang out, run errands or go for a ride. That is what makes the Aqua Shorts special.

Raina and I are lucky enough to have a pool. It’s getting opened in less than a month, and we can’t wait. Something tells me that whenever I’m not working, my BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short will be this summer’s uniform. I mean… you never know when you’ll suddenly feel like jumping in the pool, do you?

The Aqua Shorts are $75, and they are available in a 5″ or a 7″ inseam; various solids and prints are available, and BN3TH seems to be adding to the offerings already.

The BN3TH Agua Volley 2N1 Swim Short sells for $75: it is available directly from the manufacturer.
