Cons
I have been reviewing Vivint products for a few years now and am excited about how much their product line has expanded. They keep developing new devices that make your house more secure and smarter. The latest device I have installed is the Vivint Chime Extender, which ensures you never miss a chime, even when away from the smart panel.
The Vivint Chime Extender is a small plug-in device about the size of a USB block. It comes in a small box and is ready to install. For instructions, scan the QR code on the back, and a website will walk you through the steps.
The first step is to ensure your smart panel is current. Once that happens, you install the extender through the Vivint mobile app. Tap the menu to get into settings and set up a new device.
Once you’ve chosen Chime Extender, follow the instructions. Plug the chime into a wall plug and press the button on the side.
The app will search for your chime and ask to be allowed to use Bluetooth. Once it connects, it automatically connects to WiFi. The entire process took seconds and connected flawlessly.
Connecting smart devices to WiFi is often a struggle, but this was a fast and simple process.
I placed the Vivint Chime Extender in my den, hidden in the back of my house. I have missed chimes from my doorbell camera numerous times, but now I will never miss an alert. It is such a simple device, but it works so well.
The Vivint Chime Extender is a great addition to an already amazing smart home security system—the small, simple device connected and set up in seconds and immediately worked.
I love how Vivint products are easy to add and connect to the system. Now, I can watch a movie on full blast in my den and never miss an alert from the smart doorbell camera.
The Vivint Chime Extender retails for $59.99; it is available directly from the manufacturer.
