The Lowdown
The ThermoWorks RFX Wireless Probe Starter Kit is a game changer in temperature probes. This is the first wireless probe that gave me zero problems. I checked the accuracy of the temperatures several times using a Thermopen, and the numbers were spot on. This unique technology is genuinely second to none regarding wireless probes. It can be expandable, and ThermoWorks is developing various products to utilize the RFX technology. If the initial product in this line is any indication, this will prove to be an industry-changing technology.

Cons
I have used ThermoWorks products for several years, and they are a part of all my cooks. The quality of the products and customer service are second to none. This summer, we teased the release of the ThermoWorks RFX Wireless thermometer; mine has finally come in, and I put it to work. Boy, was I blown away! This is the technology we have all been waiting for.
The ThermoWorks RFX is the only wireless meat thermometer with sub-GHz wireless technology. The RFX GATEWAY connects to the MEAT thermometer and sends data to the mobile app via ThermoWorks Cloud. When unobstructed, the RFX reaches up to a staggering 1500 ft.
The ThermoWorks RFX blasts through smoker walls and other obstructions for an unbeatable connection. It charges fast and lasts 50 hours in only 10 minutes. The gateway allows 50+ probes, making it the most expandable probe system.
The starter kit has everything you need to get cooking: an RFX MEAT wireless probe and charger, an RFX GATEWAY, an ambient temperature probe, and a carrying case. I love the case. Everything is kept nice and tidy, ready to go, and I even store a Thermopen in there, making it my go-to for every cook.
The ThermoWorks RFX MEAT probe consists of four independently calibrated sensors to measure the true thermal center of the cook. It is dishwasher safe and withstands temperatures up to 1,000 degrees F. You can even deep fry with it in the meat without worries. The probe is much smaller than similar products and works better than any wireless probe I have tried. This is an amazing device.
The RFX GATEWAY is the brains of this operation. The small yet rugged box keeps you connected, and you can also connect to Wi-Fi to monitor data via the mobile app from anywhere in the world. A Pro-Series Air Probe is included for accurate ambient temps. The gateway has a wired probe connection to add the second temperature data. I have done several overnight cooks, and the battery has worked for hours with no issues.
Smoking meat is not too difficult. It is all about the temperature and timing of the meat. The ThermoWorks RFX makes this not only easy but also accurate, ensuring perfect results every time. I was able to make a fantastic pork butt into pulled pork using the RFX for the first time. During the cook, I traveled over 30 miles away to run errands and kept perfect tabs on the meat temps without worry.
I did not realize the ThermoWorks RFX GATEWAY included a wired port until I received it. It is a game-changer that monitors the ambient temperature while watching the RFX MEAT do its thing.
The pork butt was cooked to perfection. The bone was pulled out clean and melted into pulled pork greatness. The only way to perfect this kind of cook is to have accurate temperature monitoring. The RFX will change the way you cook meat!

What Needs Improvement: Nothing
Love all the pros about this ThermoWorks RFX Wireless Probe. My brother has a smoker/grill & uses it all year around. He could not only use one of these (as he needs a upgrade) but would prob like two. lol He’s the guy that always has a backup for everything just incase.
This Thermopro would be a great gift choice for my brother in law. He’s the BBQ master for our family.
Great review! I love the fact that the ThermoWorks RFX lets you monitor temps from such a distance, even while you’re out running errands. It seems like the perfect tool for stress-free, perfectly cooked meals!
Being able to monitor temperatures while you’re away running errands is great, though it seems like it would help to have someone nearby who can help if something’s not quite right. 50 probes seems like a lot of probes for a cook to use.
