The Lowdown
My favorite thing about the chair is its design, which straddles the line between a racing seat aesthetic and more traditional office furniture. Often, gaming chair designs are appropriate only for use with custom PCs with elaborate lighting. The Boulies Master Series Computer Chair has a more mature, sophisticated design that, while looking “built for speed,” seems appropriate in nearly every setting.
Overall
Pros
- Elegant design
- Extensive flexibility
- The Ultraflex leather and microfiber suede are very handsome
Cons
- The location of the button that facilitates the in/out adjustment of the armrests is easily bumped
Boulies is a manufacturer of gaming and office chairs whose name is derived from the French town where one of its founders was born. The company offers two office chair models, the EP200 and EP460 series, and two gaming chair models, the Master Series and the Elite Series. In this review, we look at the Boulies Master Series Computer Chair.
The Boulies Master Series Computer Chair is available in two sizes: the Master and the Master Max. Although the wheelbase diameter is the same for both chairs, the Master Max is larger in every dimension.
The recommended weight limit for the Boulies Master Series Computer Chair is 243 lbs, while the Max can accommodate up to 300 lbs. The height range for the Master is 155-180cm (61 to 71 inches), and the Master Max is 180-200cm (71 to 79 inches).
The Boulies Master Series Computer Chair has three upholstery options: Water-Repellent Fabric, Ultraflex PU, and Nappa Leather. Our sample is of Ultraflex PU leather with microfiber suede inserts. The leather is smooth and very soft to the touch. The combination with the inserts is clearly inspired by the leather and Alcantara combination found in many modern sports cars.
Our chair has black leather and black microfiber inserts, but the Master Series is also available in Blue/Black and Brown/Black combinations. All three color combinations are very attractive. To my eye, the uniformity of the Black/Black combination is the most elegant.
What’s in the Box
- Boulies Master Series Computer Chair
- Detachable Headrest Pillow
As is the case with most furniture, the chair arrived in pieces and required assembly. Luckily, the instructions were clear, and the parts were well-labeled, making the job quite easy and quick. In the end, the chair was complete, and everything fit as it should and did not require any further adjustment.
The chair is bolstered both in the back and seat and is comprised of a series of curved surfaces that conform to the natural contours of the body. The wide seating area and comfortable foam cushioning make sitting in this chair for long periods a welcome experience.
The back includes an integrated adjustable lumbar support that ensures users can find the desired degree of support. One knob moves the lumbar support higher or lower against the back, and the other knob determines the amount of support that is provided.
The armrests, revised from previous iterations of this model, are constructed of aluminum alloy and feature even softer padded arm pods. Boulies refers to these as “4D” as the armrests can not only slide forward and backward, in and out, and up and down, but the arm pods can also slide forward on the arms themselves. This means you can place the armrests virtually anywhere and quickly adjust them to wider, higher, or lower with a single button.
One potential side effect of this flexibility is that if you sit in a non-standard position, you may inadvertently touch the button and move the armrests, but this is not a serious shortcoming.
The backrest tilts from the default 95 degrees back to 165 degrees and can be locked at any angle in between.
The multifunction tilt mechanism allows locking and unlocking at whatever seating angle is preferred. The Dynamic Tilt Rocking Function adds a gentle 15-degree motion that, paired with the 15-degree lean-back lock feature, means that you can find the right position easily and quickly the first time and again in the future.
The chair’s base is made of aluminum and provides stability even when the backrest is reclined all the way back to the nearly flat 165-degree position.
The base sits on five XL PU casters that Boulies claims are “wooden floor friendly.” We can confirm that the chair rolls across all floor surfaces easily and without leaving permanent marks.
The chair is connected to the base by a class-4 BIFMA-approved gas lift safety certified by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance).
The Boulies Master Series Computer Chair has a two-year limited warranty and a 14-day return policy.

I had my sons test this chair with me in a few different configurations. The chair is easily adjusted for the desired seating position, whether used for gaming, in an office, or studying at a desk. The four-way adjustable armrests are equally easily manipulated in terms of height, width, and front-to-back positioning. The Ultraflex leather and microfiber suede are tremendously stylish and very comfortable, even for extended periods of use.

What I Like: Elegant design; Extensive flexibility; The Ultraflex leather and microfiber suede are very handsome
What Needs Improvement: The location of the button that facilitates the in/out adjustment of the armrests is easily bumped
My son would love a gaming chair. The price point is great & it looks comfy and supportive for extended periods of game play. The style & material are a plus too.
Elegant isn’t something that I’d normally associate with gaming chairs, but it applies here.
