Electric guitars are great for playing in huge stadiums with thousands of screaming fans. Still, it can be tough to practice without lugging around a heavy amplifier or waking up the neighborhood. Thanks to the Fender Mustang Micro personal amp, you can plug in and jam out using wired headphones, and it’s less than $100.

Featuring a sleek, mobile design, the Fender Mustang Micro is perfect for the musician on-the-go, or someone who wants to practice in silence. The Mustang Micro plugs directly into your guitar with its rotating input plug and has a 1/8” headphone jack to output into your favorite wired headphones. There’s even a Bluetooth setting that allows you to stream music from your library into your headphones so you can play along. And to top it off, you can use the USB-C output on your Mustang Micro as an interface to record your riffs along with the Bluetooth audio stream back to your computer for future listening. The Fender Mustang Micro includes 12 amp models for a wide range of tones from clean to dirty and twelve modifiable effect combinations. It also has an adjustable EQ, a nice volume control knob, and features multi-colored LEDs to let you know which options you’ve selected. The Micro is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery charged by USB and will allow for 4 hours of continuous playtime.

Since I’m not an excellent guitarist (yet), check out this YouTube video from Guitar Center showing off the Mustang Micro:

As discussed in the video, the Fender Mustang Micro utilizes sounds from Fender’s Mustang series of amplifiers and replicates them perfectly. The fact that it can serve as an interface when recording your music on a computer using programs like Logic Pro X makes the Mustang Micro an incredible deal.

I was able to pick up the Mustang Micro, turn it on, plug it into my Fender guitar, and started playing in under 60 seconds. The controls are incredibly intuitive; Fender even includes a handy credit card-sized cheat sheet showing you which colors refer to which amps and the effects and the available modifications.
