It’s not very often that I open a box and have to stop what I’m doing to inhale the fragrant smell of fine leather wafting as I unwrap the contents, but that’s exactly what happened when I recently opened a package from Galen Leather. What was inside the box? Beautiful cases for my iPhone, 12″ MacBook, and 13″ MacBook Pro.
If you have to take conference calls regularly — even when you’re traveling — then you know that it can be a pain to carry a portable speaker with you. The Pioneer Rayz Rally is a powerful, portable conference call speaker that is so small it can fit in the palm of your hand with plenty of room to spare.
Last year, I reviewed the Focal Listen Headphones; even though they were wired, I thought they were excellent. It was only a matter of time before Focal introduced a Listen wireless version, and now it is here. They’ve also added two in-ear headphones to their line-up: Spark and Spark Wireless.
Since most of us spend a third of our lives in bed, it only makes sense that what we sleep on and what we sleep in should be as comfortable as a favorite pair of shoes or as inviting as a favorite overcoat. Brooklinen is introducing their new Limited-Edition Linen Collection, which looks like it could easily become a favorite. The one thing that all Brooklinen sheets and duvet covers share is that they are soft, luxurious, cool, and comfortable to sleep in, but the Limited-Edition Linen Collection promises to take that to a whole new perfect-for-summer level. Inspired by sprezzatura and surf…
If you need to carry a high-capacity external drive with you when you travel or go to work, you’ll likely be interested in making that memory device as small as possible. Take a look at the Western Digital My Passport SSD; it’s 1 Terabyte, rated for 515MB/s, and it measures just 3.6″ long by 1.8″ wide by 0.4″ thick.
It’s not often that a monitor really piques my interest, but the Dell UltraSharp 38 Curved Monitor has done just that. The company’s first 37.5 ultrawide curved screen monitor will be perfect for anyone who needs a lot of screen room while using multiple windows.
If you have a spare $1500, and you want to experience exceptional headphones that were “inspired and designed by Quincy Jones”, then you could get the AKG N90Q. But if $1500 isn’t quite realistic for your situation, and you’re still interested in trying Jones’ signature sound, then you should take a look at the $200 JBL E55BT Quincy Edition Headphones.
If you enjoy listening to music on headphones, but you don’t want the bother of bringing your phone along while you do it, STREAMZ Voice Controlled Smart Streaming Headphones might be just what you’ve been waiting for.
Last month, HTC announced their new HTC U11 Flagship device; it has a Liquid Surface design with squeezable Edge Sense interaction, along with USonic noise canceling headphones, an industry-best 16-megapixel camera (according to DxOmark it’s the best they’ve ever tested, beating the Google Pixel), and it can work with multiple AI assistants including Alexa.
I recently reviewed the ZTE MAX XL, and I found it to be a much better than expected phablet for anyone who needs a good phone but doesn’t necessarily want to spend $600 or more on their mobile device. Originally only available from Boost Mobile, Sprint will also begin selling this phone for $192.
With so many mobile phones costing upwards of $600 or (much) more, it’s easy to think that there aren’t any good deals to be had on mobile devices with decent specs; the Boost Mobile ZTE MAX XL proves that this simply isn’t true.
In the last few years, the smarthome accessory market has exploded. Now it’s possible for anyone to make their home more automated, efficient, and yes, smarter to add aftermarket accessories that remotely control or oversee their home’s temperature, energy efficiency, who’s in their home, who has access to their home, and more. Which brings us to the Friday Lock.
While attending IFA Berlin in 2015, I learned Dyson would have their robot vacuum coming at some future date. I kept my eye out for it because I like Dyson products, but I’ll admit to experiencing a bit of sticker shock when the Dyson 360 Eye Robot was finally announced and available. $1,000 for a robot vacuum? What?! Seriously?
We’ve covered Elgato Eve products since they became available; these are add-on Smarthome accessories that allow you to automate and control your home remotely using the Eve app on your iPhone; they integrate seamlessly with Apple HomeKit. Their latest product is the Elgato Eve Degree, a tiny and elegant aluminum-cased indoor or outdoor temperature with humidity monitor.
Father’s Day is coming, and for many men, that means they’ll get a new tie, a bottle of cologne, or worse — socks. Instead of giving dad (or your husband) yet another predictable gift, why not surprise him with something out of the ordinary? I’m talking about one of the many available Man Crates gift boxes.

WARNING: The products discussed may contain or use nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical; in many cities and a few states, you must be 21 to purchase vaping products and/or products containing nicotine. Please familiarize yourself with and obey the law in your location. It’s a personal choice whether you’d rather vape from a pen-style vaporizer or a sub-ohm style, but if you prefer a smoother vaping experience with more intense flavor and bigger vapor clouds, using a sub-ohm vape may be right for you. If that piques your interest, then you should check out the HAUS Craft Collection Sub-Ohm Vape…
One thing you can never have enough of is outlet space in your home or office, and for that, you can buy a power strip, or even better, a surge protector power strip. If you look on Amazon, you’ll see that there are tons of surge protector power strips available, but none are quite like the OneAdaptr STACK Modular Surge Protector series.
WARNING: The products discussed may contain or use nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical; in many cities and a few states, you must be 21 to purchase vaping products and/or products containing nicotine. Please familiarize yourself with and obey the law in your location. Several years ago, I reviewed the DaVinci Ascent Vaporizer. I found it to be extremely well made and easy to operate. The DaVinci IQ Precision Vaporizer is their newest offering; it’s all that the Ascent was and more. Sleek, easy to operate, solidly made, and now it can be controlled by a connected app.
Is the fantastic weather we are having (in Texas, anyway) getting you into the mood for summertime activities, sports, and outdoor parties? If so, then the Monster Superstar Ravebox Portable Speaker is ready to play. The Ravebox is waterproof, has 12-hours of battery life, and it’s powerful enough to handle all of your musical needs indoors or outside.
It might be easy to dismiss an organization system that keeps track of things you’ve stored as something someone with too much “stuff” would want, something someone who needs to explore the minimalistic lifestyle would need. But you don’t have to be a budding hoarder for the Bluelounge Quick Peek to help you keep track of “what’s in the box.”
