These cool new e-writer tablets are perfect for kids, as they’ve got innovative features that will help promote brain development at a young age. Both e-writers are slim and light and are therefore easy for kids to carry around, throw into a backpack, and play with. Just like all Boogie Boards, these e-writers are eco-friendly as they prevent the waste of paper. Both of these Boogie Boards also have an internal battery that will last up to 7 years, however there does not appear to be any way to change the battery on the Jot 4.5.

For the Scribble n’ Play, it appears that Boogie Board modified their Jot 8.5 e-writer to incorporate a colorful background. When you write with a stylus on the Scribble n’ Play, you see a rainbow of colors come to life before your eyes. Unfortunately, however, the colors are set so you can’t choose what color you want to draw.

The main body of the screen is hugged by a soft plastic sleeve that is around the top and bottom of the screen, creating a layer of protection in all four corners. Speaking of the four corners, that’s where the four styluses are kept, as they hug the exterior of the soft plastic case. Each of the four styluses is a different shape, which will help your child create a variety of different lines and textures. I think this new e-writer is so great that I’m actually bringing the Scribble n’ Play with me on a cross-country trip for my almost 2-year old daughter to play with on the plane.

The folks at Boogie Board took a good thing, their Jot 4.5, and made it kid friendly by adding fun colors and a translucent screen. The translucent screen helps children practice writing, drawing, or to solve math equations as you can place flash cards underneath the screen for simple tracing. The Jot 4.5 Featuring Clearview comes with an attachment that allows you to easily slip flash cards in and out of the back and it also comes with a pen-style stylus that easily clips on to the corner of the e-writer.

The Jot 4.5 Featuring Clearview also comes with a set of Alphabet and Math flash cards so that your kids can start learning as soon as you open the box! I’m excited for my daughter to grow up a little bit so that she can use this innovative tool to learn without throwing away tons and tons of wasted paper.

As you can tell, the folks at Boogie Board have been busy coming up with new ways to use their innovative LCD e-writing technology. We use one of their Jot 8.5 e-writers daily on our fridge in the kitchen writing notes and to-do lists. The Boogie Board e-writers are incredibly useful devices that do not require consumable resources such as paper, ink, markers, etc.

If you’re looking for a really cool gift for your kids or for your friends’ kids, you need to check out the new e-writer offerings at MyBoogieBoard.com. They make for a great gift, help kids learn and grow, don’t cost an arm and a leg, and are eco-friendly. You can’t go wrong!
