Around Earth Day, we told you about the Incipio Organicore iPhone and Samsung Galaxy cases; they’re biodegradable, and the Eden Project has a 1 for 1 promise to plant a tree for each case sold. We’ve had an iPhone 11 Incipio Organicore Case in for review. It turns out that Organicore is more than just environmental promises; it’s also excellent smartphone protection!

Incipio Organicore

Organicore cases have an interesting texture; it’s grippy but doesn’t attract dust or lint, which is great, and it has a relatively slim profile compared to the Urban Armor Gear cases I’m used to using.

There’s a lip around the screen, so if the phone flops face-down, the screen has some protection, and there’s a similarly raised cutout for the camera, so the lenses are protected slightly as well.

The buttons are protected by raised covers built into the case, and these covers don’t impact the button presses at all. There’s a very slight indent above the cutout for the silence switch, which is a nice touch-you don’t need to dig your finger in to switch it back and forth.

I have to say that that the iPhone 11 Incipio Organicore in Forest Green is a really gorgeous deep green. There are lighter flecks mixed in as well, which appear more when in direct light and fade away when it’s not as bright. Depending upon your smartphone model, you will have one to five choices in Organicore case colors, which may be limiting if you prefer more options.

I like this design, as it makes the case have a different look at different times of day and in different environments. Even though the case is biodegradable and compostable, you can still wash it with soap and water — it won’t start composting under normal circumstances!

Incipio says the Organicore case can protect your smartphone from drops up to 6′. I didn’t toss my iPhone 11 from a second floor to test this, but the case did weather several of my usual clumsy drops, and it has no marks or indications that it fell.

While there’s no significant cushioning at the corners, they are completely covered; the whole case is stiff and looks like it would well protect your phone if dropped. I see the Incipio Organicore as an everyday protective case — perfect for day-to-day dangers like dropping your phone off a desk or doing some impressive hacky-sack kicks while also holding your phone, keys, wallet, groceries, etc.

If you need something with even more drop protection or that has more padded corners, then you might need to consider a tougher, thicker case.

I’ve been using the Incipio Organicore case for a few weeks, and it has gone on and come off my phone multiple times without starting to look deformed or getting loose anywhere, which is great. The case seems like it will hold up very well.

Of course, the Incipio Organicore collection isn’t just about protection; it’s also about what happens to the case when it is eventually discarded.

When you buy an Incipio Organicore case for your iPhone or Samsung Galaxy smartphone, you’re getting a case that’s made of plant and bio-based materials; it comes in recyclable packaging, and the case itself is 100% biodegradable in a composting environment. You’ll also be getting a tree planted by Eden Reforestation Projects with every Organicore case sold.

Beyond all of that, Incipio Organicore cases have the right level of grip to be comfortable without being bulky. When you buy an Oganicore series case, you choose protection for your phone that comes with a side of lessening your guilt at your environmental footprint.

Incipio Organicore cases are available for the most recent iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphone models; they sell for $39.99 and are available directly from the manufacturer and other retailers, including Amazon.
