Daily carry can be rough on a pocket knife, so having a sharp, rugged knife is at the top of my list. I was recently sent the Vosteed Mini Nightshade to carry; let’s take a look at its performance.
The Vosteed Mini Nightshade is a Shilin cutter pocket knife sporting a crossbar lock; it has an S35VN 2.6″ blade, which offers a combination of durability, hardness, and impressive edge retention. The knife came out of the box super sharp and still holds a perfect edge after weeks of daily use.
The Vosteed Mini Nightshade’s handle is eggplant-shaped, which is great for ergonomics. It is a relatively small knife, but I have no problem using it for any task. The carbon fiber handle is attractive, strong, and light. The knife is surprisingly light while also having great performance.
The Vosteed Mini Nightshade is the first pocket knife I have used with the crossbar lock mechanism. While closing the knife is not single-handed, I like this mechanism. It glides open easily and precisely and locks the blade for worry-free, safe use.
Thumb studs are included for quick and effortless one-handed blade opening. Their placement is perfect, making the Vosteed Mini Nightshade easy and safe to open. The knife uses ceramic ball bearings, and the opening and closing are smooth.
