Weber Crafted Accessories Review: A Look at 3 of Them, and How They Can Be a Backyard Kitchen Game-Changer

The Lowdown

The price point of Weber Crafted accessories isn’t all that high, given the quality materials they are made of and the fact that they fit perfectly on your Weber grill. I got some great cooking results on them and feel like they’ll also add to your backyard BBQ experience.

Cons

There are few things my family enjoys more than cooking on our Weber Grill, and now, thanks to the Weber Crafted line of gas grill accessories, our grill has become 10 times more versatile. Simply remove some of your grill grates and replace them with a Weber Crafted accessory, and you open yourself up to a world of possibility!

Weber Crafted gas grill accessories

The Weber Crafted line of accessories includes a whole slew of options, including a flat top griddle, roasting basket, pizza stone, dual-sided sear grate, rotisserie skewer set, rotisserie crisping basket, and more.

It All Starts with the Weber Crafted Frame Kit

And since it’s made by Weber, you can be sure it’ll fit on your Weber gas grill. First, you start with the Weber Crafted Frame Kit, which replaces the right-side cooking grate, and then insert any of the Weber Crafted accessories you’d like.

Check out this great overview video from Weber:

Weber was kind enough to send us a few of their Weber Crafted accessories for review, and I’ve gotta say that we were very pleased with them.

Like I said at the beginning of this review, these accessories completely change the way you can use your grill and make you want to explore many different ways of cooking.

We got the pizza stone (as I have a penchant for making my own pizza, dough and all), the flat top griddle (I love a smash burger but hate getting grease all over my kitchen), and the roasting basket.

In order to use those accessories properly, you’ll need the Weber Crafted Frame Kit, and there are multiple options depending on the specifications of your grill.

This is the base that all of the Weber Crafted accessories sit on, and when not in use, you can put your cooking grates over it. It comes with a cast iron grill spacer for the front.

Weber Crafted Pizza Stone

The $99.99 Weber Crafted Pizza Stone is a glazed cordierite stone that measures about 16″ x 16″ and sits perfectly on top of the frame kit to sit flush with the top of your cooking grates.

This type of stone is well known for heat retention and is used in many popular pizza stones you may have seen in the past.

My experience was very positive as the Weber Crafted Pizza Stone got super hot, and I ended up making some really great pizza once I figured out how to control the temperature inside the grill.

You can see from the photos that the bottom of the pizza got some nice, even color and the rest of the pizza was really well-cooked thanks to the heat inside the grill, not just the heat from the stone.

Like any new cooking device, there’s a learning curve, but this stone made really nice pizzas!

Weber Crafted Griddle

The Weber Crafted Griddle before seasoning.

The $99.99 Weber Crafted Griddle is my smash-burger dream come true. It’s made of thick carbon steel, measures 15.8″ x 16.3″, and has a lip about 1″ tall to keep oil, seasonings, and your food in place.

There’s a small opening at the front that allows you to sweep excess oil into the grill. The steel is thick enough to heat evenly while ensuring it doesn’t warp.

The Weber Crafted Griddle is very heavy but worth the effort. You have to season it to ensure it doesn’t rust and food doesn’t stick to it, but again, it’s worth the effort.

It took me about 3 hours to get it to the point where I was ready to cook on it. We made smash burgers on it, and the crust we achieved on the burger was unreal. We are definitely happy with the performance of the griddle.

Weber Crafted Grilling Basket

The Weber Crafted Grilling Basket is…well, it’s a basket! It fits in the frame system and is a nice way to roast small, delicate food without pieces falling through the cooking grates.

We used it for roasted vegetables, and it worked out really well. The basket is nicely sized at 17.2″ long by 16.3″ wide with a 2″ lip, and it’s made out of stainless steel. It retails for $99.99, and it’s a nice piece of kit, but that leads me to my general concern with the WEBER CRAFTED system.

Don’t get me wrong, I love these accessories, and they worked really well, but some of them leave me asking, why couldn’t I just put these accessories on top of my existing cooking grates?

I recognize they’d be slightly farther from the heat source, but they’d probably still work fairly well, right? Maybe something, like the Weber Crafted Wok & Steamer, needs the frame to sit inside, but I feel like most of the others aren’t really reliant on the frame.

Let me know in the comments if I’m wrong.

Weber Crafted accessories stored inside the grill's side locker

All my Weber Crafted accessories fit nicely inside the grill’s side locker.

I’ve really enjoyed the versatility offered by the Weber Crafted accessories. Not to mention, I love how well everything fits inside the grill locker underneath the side burner on my Genesis SPX-435.

The price point of Weber Crafted accessories isn’t all that high, given the quality materials they are made of and the fact that they fit perfectly on your Weber grill. I got some great cooking results on them and feel like they’ll also add to your backyard BBQ experience.

Weber Crafted accessories start at $54.99; they are available directly from the manufacturer and other retailers, including Amazon.

What I Like: Built well; Made out of quality materials; Elevates your grill to the versatility of a full kitchen; Fit inside the side grill locker when not in use

What Needs Improvement: Is the frame kit really necessary, Weber? Asking for a friend.
