Last year, Eli Health rolled out the Hormometer. It’s a simple cartridge that lets you test your cortisol (stress hormone) levels with saliva, all without blood tests or even getting out of your PJs. They’re expanding their catalogue, and the next targets are going to be testosterone and progesterone!
It’s super easy to associate testosterone testing with enormous bodybuilders, but the reality is that testosterone levels matter for everyone! If you’re male, your testosterone levels can impact your energy, bone density, metabolism, fertility, and more. And yes, even women need a balanced level of testosterone in their systems.
According to Eli Health, saliva is actually a great medium to measure your testosterone levels, but it’s been difficult to execute accurately. The Hormometer is the first time those tests can be done without the hassle of going to a lab for bloodwork. And as someone who routinely has to visit the vampires at Labcorp, being able to pop a cartridge in my mouth and have results in 20 minutes is way preferable to being jabbed in the arm!
Meanwhile, if you’re a woman, you’re probably aware that progesterone is a key hormone, whether you’re trying to manage your energy levels or track your fertility. It’s also a notoriously difficult hormone to easily track because it fluctuates throughout the day.
Again, this is a place where the Hormometer really has the potential to open the door to more access to what’s going on in people’s bodies. It’s not always possible to get blood drawn at 6 am or to leave work at 2 pm to check your hormone levels, but discreetly testing your saliva and reading the results on your phone can be done anywhere.
Eli Health expects the testosterone and progesterone tests to be $8.25 per test, plus subscription options, the same as the current pricing for the existing tests. Look for the new tests to start shipping in the first quarter of 2026, while the cortisol tests are available now.
