Sub Hunt from Addicting Games is a shooting game the puts you under the sea in your very own submarine.
The game features three different control methods, tons of weapons and upgrades, music and more. It’s an entertaining game each time you come back to play.
When I saw the chance to review Sub Hunt from Addicting Games I jumped at the chance. I was immediately reminded of an old hand held game I used to play as a kid.
The game’s initial launch screen includes the option to start a new game or continue a old one.
Each game starts with tips to guide you game play. The tip of the day appears every time and you can read more tips by pressing YES or continue on to the game by pressing NO.
There are three slots in which to save your game progress in.
Each mission or stage begins with a briefing on what you’ll set out to accomplish.
There is a nice tutorial to guide you though the controls and firing mechanism in the game. You’re asked if you want to play the tutorial each time you start a new game. You can bypass it by pressing NO but I’d like to see an option to turn it off permanently.
The goal of the game is simple. Using the circular control pad you steer your submarine around the water and attempt to destroy all of the enemy craft in your way. You are able to fire both up at the ships on the surface or forward at the other subs under the water with you. You can not fire backwards.
There are plenty of obstacles to get in your way in the form of torpedoes, depth charges, bombs and more.
As you destroy targets some drop special crates which “power up” your sub by providing new and more effective weapons. Once you catch the crate its contents are added to your firing repertoire.
If you successfully destroy all your targets you’ll complete your mission and see a summary of your statistics.
While completing missions you earn points which you can use to upgrade your submarine.
Sub Hunt is a game that’s simple to play but contains enough add-on features to make it fun to return to multiple times. Priced at only 99 cents is a great game to add to your iPhone or iPod Touch.
The game play can get slightly repetitive over time but the additional weapons and obstacles help to keep it fresh. The graphics of the game are top notch, great colors and easy to look at targets.
Check it out in the iTunes App Store here.
M.S.R.P. – 99 cents
What I like – nice array of weapons and obstacles, easy to learn and play, good controls.
What I don’t like – can get repetitive.
