ID Vault for iPhone/Touch/iPad App Review

One thing that has come to annoy me on the iPhone is logging into sites.  Whether it be a website for shopping or a forum, for some reason logging in seems to be a task I try to avoid.  Clicking on the small log in screen boxes is not always easy and sometimes formatting issues makes the experience not very iPhone like.  How about an app that can do all of this for you while keeping all of that log in information as well as credit card numbers secure?  ID Vault proves to solve this issue with a one tap log in.

I am reviewing the free version which will give you three accounts to keep secure.  The full version is available as an in-app purchase for $9.99.  The idea of trying before you buy is great, so let’s take a look.

ID Vault is extremely easy to use.  To log in, simply type in a four digit pass code.  Once the app is set up, this is the only code you will have to remember to access all of your information and websites.  All of that important information is safe since ID Vault utilizes AES 256 encryption.  So if you accidentally leave your phone in, say a German beer establishment, there is no need to worry about your information.

Once the four digit code is typed in, the app starts up quickly.  You will now be presented with a list of all accounts.  Simply tap the preferred site once and let the app log in!  A built in browser will open and the site will open.  No need to do anything other than wait to be logged in and begin surfing.  I found the browser to be fast and the process truly saves time and frustration.

To add a new account, tap on the plus sign in the upper left of the list screen.  Once the browser opens all you need to do is visit a website and log in.  The toolbar at the bottom of the browser also has a plus sign.  Just before logging in, tap the plus sign and a record symbol will appear.  Log in and the app will remember all of the information.  No copying and pasting or forms to fill out.  Simple and intuitive.

There are similar solutions to ID Vault, but I have to say the simplicity of this app is what makes it great.  Once your accounts are set up, logging into the app upon launch will be the only code, password, or memory needed to shop, bank and conduct online business.  I actually have avoided using my iPhone for some sites just because logging in can be a pain.  Now all that is needed is a tap!

What I like: The app is super easy to use and the user interface is intuitive.

What could be improved: Nothing yet.
