Cons

We are currently seeing temperatures over 100 degrees here in Texas, and it is the height of pool season. The worst part about pool ownership is daily cleaning. Just in time to make my life easier, I was sent a SMOROBOT Tank C1 to test; it cleans my pool wirelessly and helps add more swim time with less effort.

The SMOROBOT Tank C1 is a cordless robotic pool cleaner that works on any pool. It can even climb and clean the walls. The device comes with a charging cable and a hook that clips onto a pool pole to retrieve it when finished.

This is my first time using a cordless pool robot, and it is definitely a game changer. There are no wires to be tangled, and no floats need to be adjusted — you just drop it in the pool and watch it clean.

The SMOROBOT Tank C1 takes a couple of hours to charge fully, and then it will run in the pool for up to 2.5 hours. The ergonomic handle makes it easy to move with just one hand, and it is easy to set up.

The side has a nut that opens the charging port. This port must be tightly closed and sealed before placing the unit in the water.

An easy-to-see light bar on the front of the SMOROBOT Tank C1 shows battery levels while charging. The levels are also easy to see from the side of the pool while it is cleaning.

This robot has two cleaning modes: S is standard cleaning and includes climbing the walls. F is the floor setting, and the bot will not climb the walls. I use this setting after I have cleaned the walls to get a quicker cleaning.

Once the SMOROBOT Tank C1 is turned on, you wait for the lights to blink and show two yellow lights. Then, simply set it in the water, let it fill up, and let it float to the bottom; it will begin cleaning within a minute or so.

Settings on the SMOROBOT Tank C1

Once started, the SMOROBOT Tank C1 moves about the pool and walls, doing its thing. It uses a proprietary AI path-planning algorithm to detect the entire pol and map its route. With 3300GPH suction power and well-designed brushes, no debris stands a chance.

The bot will climb the walls to the water line. A strong impeller keeps it stuck to the wall for maximum cleaning ability. The V-Power climbing pattern adapts to multiple pool finishes and ensures a deep cleaning.

When SMOROBOT Tank C1 is finished, it will park near the pool’s edge for easy retrieval. Using the included hook with a pool pole, you can lift it right out.

The fine mesh cleaning cartridge does a great job of catching debris and dirt. To access it, you’ll lift the back end of the bot, pull the cartridge out, and spray it out to keep it clean. I prefer to clean it after each use so the pool gunk does not dry up and become difficult to deal with.

It is amazing how much stuff it picks up, even when the pool looks clean.
