MediaTek has just announced its newest flagship mobile chip, the Dimensity 9300+, joining the Dimensity lineup. Powered by an All-Big-Core design and utilizing the 3rd generation Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited  (TSMC) 4nm process, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ incorporates one Arm Cortex-X4 core operating at up to 3.4 GHz alongside three Cortex-X4 cores and four Cortex-A720 cores.

Notably, it introduces advancements in AI processing through MediaTek’s NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration technology, enhancing the efficiency of the company’s generative AI engine.

JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek, expressed enthusiasm about the chip’s potential impact on the AI ecosystem. He highlighted its broad LLM support and on-device low-rank adaptation (LoRA) Fusion, emphasizing how these features pave the way for rich generative AI applications.

Hsu also underscored the chip’s impressive performance and enhancements tailored to accelerate LLM inference, ultimately contributing to a smoother user experience.

The chip’s Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) 790 AI engine stands out for its support of LLMs with parameters ranging from 1B to 13B, with scalability up to 33B. Using the power of NeuroPilot Speculative Decode Acceleration, the Dimensity 9300+ can run LLMs with seven billion parameters at 22 tokens per second, doubling the rate of competitive mass market solutions.
