Nomad iPhone 18 Pro Cases Dress Up Your New Phone Without Babying It

Buying a new iPhone 18 Pro is the easy part. Deciding how much of that expensive glass and metal you’re willing to leave exposed is where the accessories start multiplying. Nomad has rolled out a lineup of iPhone 18 Pro cases and screen protection for several kinds of owners, from leather traditionalists to people who treat drop protection like a competitive sport. The Nomad iPhone 18 Pro Cases collection includes the Modern Leather Case, Clear Leather Case, Rugged Case, and ProShield Screen Protector, giving you four distinctly different ways to protect Apple’s latest Pro phone without turning it into the same generic slab.

The Modern Leather Case Is Built to Look Better with Age

Nomad’s $79 Modern Leather Case is probably the most familiar in the group, especially if you’ve followed the company’s cases over the years. The Black, Saddle, and Rustic Brown cases use vegetable-tanned Horween leather from the U.S., paired with a polycarbonate frame and a grippy TPU bumper.

Horween leather isn’t meant to remain pristine forever. It darkens, picks up marks, and develops a patina as it’s handled, so this is a case for someone who’d rather have leather that looks lived in than something that still resembles Day One six months later.

Protection hasn’t been sacrificed for looks. Nomad rates the Modern Leather Case for drops of up to 8′, with raised edges around the screen and cameras. Anodized aluminum buttons provide physical controls along the sides, while the Camera Control gets a tactile glass button rather than an open cutout. Dual lanyard attachment points are also built into the case.

It supports both MagSafe and Qi2 accessories, so wireless chargers, magnetic wallets, stands, and similar gear can attach without removing the case. Qi2 is the broadly adopted wireless charging standard built around magnetic alignment, so you’re not restricted to accessories carrying Apple’s MagSafe branding.

There’s also a slightly surprising compatibility bonus. Nomad lists this iPhone 18 Pro case as compatible with both the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro, which matters if you’re carrying last year’s model and like one of the newer finishes.

The Clear Leather Case Splits the Difference

Clear cases are useful if you paid attention to your iPhone’s color when ordering it and don’t particularly want to hide that decision under an opaque shell five minutes after opening the box. The $69 Nomad Clear Leather Case takes that idea and adds a Horween leather panel in Black, Rustic Brown, or Saddle, so the phone remains visible without the case looking entirely utilitarian.

Nomad Clear Leather Case

Nomad Clear Leather Case

The transparent portion uses UV-blocking polycarbonate and a TPU bumper to resist the yellowing that can make a clear case look like it spent several summers abandoned on a dashboard. Nomad pairs that clear construction with vegetable-tanned Horween leather, a microfiber lining, anodized aluminum buttons, and a glass Camera Control button.

Drop protection is rated at 8′, matching the Modern Leather Case. The Clear Leather Case also includes raised screen and camera edges, dual lanyard points, MagSafe support, and Qi2 charging compatibility. Nomad lists the bumper at 2.2 mm thick, so there’s still plenty of material between your phone and the floor, even though the clear design keeps things visually lighter.

This is probably the more interesting choice if you’re torn between showing off the phone itself and carrying leather. You don’t have to choose one or the other, although the leather portion will develop a patina while the clear plastic is intended to stay clear. The contrast should become more noticeable over time.

Rugged Case Is for People Who Don’t Trust Gravity

Then there’s the $69 Rugged Case in Arroyo, Balandra, or Norte, which takes a noticeably different approach. Instead of leather being the main attraction, protection gets top billing.

Nomad Rugged Case

Nomad uses a polycarbonate frame with a PET backplate, TPU bumpers, and reinforced corners, and rates the Rugged Case for drops of up to 15′. That’s nearly twice the stated drop protection of the leather models, although, as with any case, a drop rating shouldn’t be interpreted as permission to start conducting your own staircase experiments.

The case still gets anodized aluminum buttons and a tactile Camera Control button, so the heavier-duty construction doesn’t mean living with mushy controls or an awkward opening around one of the phone’s newer inputs. There’s also an internal lanyard attachment system for anyone who wants another layer of physical security.

The Rugged Case makes the most sense if your phone spends time at job sites, on hiking trails, in travel bags, at gym lockers, or in the general chaos of life with children. A leather case may age gracefully after a scrape. A rugged case is designed around the hope that the phone underneath never has to demonstrate the same talent.

ProShield Adds a Layer Between the Display and Everything Else

A case can protect a phone’s edges and back, but the display remains the part most likely to meet keys, grit, or pavement at exactly the wrong angle. Nomad’s $45 ProShield Screen Protector covers that vulnerability without adding much thickness.

Nomad ProShield Screen Protector

ProShield uses ion-exchanged aluminosilicate glass supplied through Corning. Ion exchange is a strengthening process that replaces smaller ions in the glass with larger ones, creating compressive stress near the surface and making the material harder to crack or scratch. Nomad states that ProShield is up to 2.5 times stronger than standard tempered glass and up to three times more scratch resistant.

An anti-reflective physical vapor deposition, or PVD, coating reduces glare. PVD uses vaporized material to create a very thin coating on another surface, in this case helping improve screen visibility under bright lighting without requiring a bulky matte layer. The protector also covers the edges while maintaining normal touchscreen response.

Nomad includes cleaning supplies and a recycled PET alignment tool to reduce the odds of ending up with the dreaded slightly crooked screen protector that becomes impossible to stop noticing once you’ve seen it. ProShield is designed to work with Nomad’s cases and most standard third-party cases.

Four Different Approaches to the Same Expensive Problem

These accessories overlap little beyond the obvious goal of keeping an iPhone intact. The Modern Leather Case leans into the feel and aging characteristics of Horween leather. The Clear Leather Case lets more of the phone remain visible while adding a leather accent. The Rugged Case trades refinement for substantially higher stated drop protection, and ProShield handles the piece of glass the cases can’t completely cover.

That makes the lineup easier to sort through than an accessory catalog filled with tiny variations on the same shell. The better choice comes down to how you carry your phone, how often gravity seems personally interested in it, and whether you view scratches and patina as character or evidence.
