U R A Q T: The HTC Star Trek / Qtek 8500 PINK Unboxing

UPS dropped off a little jewel this morning, the HTC Star Trek branded as a Qtek 8500. This is HTC’s first clamshell Smartphone, and it runs Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone.

Immediately evident is the fact that this is not the business-like black version – oh no, instead this is the hot pink version. 😀

So let’s unbox her and take a look…

Inside the wider portion of the box are all of the documentation and software disks.

The box includes the Qtek 8500 “Musicphone” (that’s what the box says!), headset, AC adapter, USB sync cable, user manual, quick start guide, two CDs with applications and set-up software.

The booty…

The “pinkie” measures 3.8″ long x 2.0″ wide x 0.65″ thick, and it weighs 3.6 ounces. The pink aluminum casing is not smooth, instead it has these light ribbs that give the phone a really unique texture.

This Smartphone has GSM Quadband / GPRS & EDGE, Bluetooth, Dual TFT Displays, and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

This phone obviously took some styling cues from the ultra-thin RAZR; it is skinny!

The microSD goes under the SIM card, and both hide out in the battery compartment.

I’ll post more later, but in the meantime, the Star Trek’s spec sheet may be seen here.

  1. Huh? “Star Trek”??? How did they name it that? Is Paramount getting a cut of the profits?
Maybe they should take the black model and put a gold lid on it in the TOS fashion. LOL.

  2. Wellllll….I think they get around by calling it the STR TRK…which is pronounced “Star Trek” 😉 heh heh
