A Real Time With Bill Maher Oops Moment

Tonight on Bill Maher’s Real Time program on HBO he did a cute shtick with Siri and Valentines Day. (The bit talked about gifts for certain kinds of favors and the cynical aspects of the V-Day and was a bit amusing.)

Apparently Maher doesn’t actually use an iPhone because…

It was upside down. (Just look at where the print is.)
“Siri, is everything alright?”
“Bill, would you please stop holding me upside down? I’m getting dizzy.”

Dan’s father brought home one of the very first video games when he was young and Dan remembers seeing a “pre-release” touchtone phone. His passion for technology and gadgets never left him. Dan is married to Raina Goldberg who is also an avid user of Apple products. They live in New Jersey with their golden doodle Nava.

  1. I’m one of the heathen who didn’t bother to upgrade to a 4S from my 4, so I don’t know if it matters (nor do I watch Maher’s show), but perhaps he did it out of habit from wanting the mic closer to his mouth? Or did he hold it up to his ear while it was upside-down as well?

Maybe it wasn’t a mistake, and HBO and Maher were savvy enough to not want the Apple logo visible in out-of-context screen grabs of their show? It’s likely that Apple didn’t pay for the mention (or HBO/Maher didn’t bother to ask), and/or HBO/Maher wanted to make it obvious that it wasn’t a paid placement…

  3. Now THAT is an interesting possibility!
