The Bodyguardz ScreenGuardz Pure with the Crown Glass Screen Protector for iPhone 6 Plus is one of the best iPhone 6 and 6 Plus accessories to hit the market. That isn’t hyperbole but rather, that is a fact. At just under $50 it isn’t cheap but it is awesome. Let’s take a look at why that is the case.

Bodyguardz ScreenGuardz Pure with the Crown Glass Screen Protector for iPhone 6 Plus
The Problem: The curved screen of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus makes it all but impossible for a screen protector to cover the glass from edge to edge. Unless the screen protector itself had subtle curves to match that of the iPhone screen there is no way for it to not come to a terminal point somewhere before the screen’s edge. As the company explains it:

On curved screen devices such as the iPhone 6, the rounded edges make it impossible for a tempered glass screen protector to provide edge-to-edge protection. The initial answers were to either decrease the coverage of the screen protector, leaving an unsightly gap and exposed, vulnerable edges. Or, to extend the screen protector over the curved portion of the glass causing a “halo,” that would collect dust and debris.

The result is a sharp edge all along the screen protector. It looks something like this…

and this…

The Solution: Bodyguardz found a solution- the Bodyguardz ScreenGuardz Pure with the Crown. They kept the screen protector- in this case one of their awesome Pure Tempered Glass screen protectors- the same but added a curved aluminum cap, or crown to use their language, that wraps around the screen protector and matches the curve of the iPhone’s screen. The result is a smooth, seamless protective layer that completely covers the iPhone’s screen. It looks like this…

As the company explains:

The Crown is a patent-pending BodyGuardz solution created to protect the curved edges of today’s hottest devices. The Crown is a custom-molded aluminum rim, designed to fit seamlessly around ScreenGuardz Pure and offer an elegant protective solution unlike anything seen before. United with the #1 selling tempered glass screen protector in the USA, ScreenGuardz Pure® + The Crown is the solution for edge-to-edge screen protection for rounded screen devices.

Inside the package you will find:

  • A ScreenGuardz Pure tempered glass screen protector (1)
  • The Crown anodized aluminum rim(1)
  • An Express Align installation tray
  • A microfiber cleaning cloth
  • An alcohol wipe / cleaner
  • Installation instructions

I found the Express Align system to be a great way to flawlessly install the Pure glass screen protector. Once that was done and I was satisfied with the screen protector install I grabbed the Crown, pulled off the adhesive and put it in place.

It installed in seconds and, once in place, gave the phone and screen protector a finished look that would not be possible without this extra bit of metal. I was, and am, impressed by the Bodyguardz ScreenGuardz Pure with the Crown.

The Bodyguardz ScreenGuardz Pure + The Crown is available in both white and black for just under $45. The system was, “was designed for those demand premium protection without the unnecessary bulk” and does just that. I love having excellent screen protection on my iPhone 6 Plus and, thanks to the Bodyguardz ScreenGuardz Pure + The Crown I can enjoy this level of protection without adding an unsightly, not to mention uncomfortable, edge when the protector ends and the screen falls into a curve.

What I Like: Great screen protection; Easy install; The Crown adds the finishing touch missing with other screen protectors

What Needs Improvement: My Crown got snagged and pulled from the screen. It never sat properly again

I’m really confused by this review. The whole body of the review is this glowing narrative of how incredible this fits, and looks and how it makes this screen protector better than any other out there.

Then, almost as an after thought, you put a note in the Cons section about how your crown got snagged, pulled away from the phone, and it was never the same after that.

Um – seems to me this is a significant issue, a flaw in the product and it deserves more of a highlight than just a single sentence at the end of the review.

If it was snaggable – then it seems that it did not provide the “elegant, protective solution unlike anything seen before”

I guess I’d really like to know why you didn’t shine a little more sunlight on this issue – describe what happened, include a picture of the “after snag” etc. Seems like, if you contacted customer service on this – there would be an opportunity to highlight the service experience you received.

    • Your point is well-taken and I probably should have “shone more light” on this. Honestly, it was my own fault that this happened because the phone was “caught” in my pocket and I “force pulled” it out rather than being gentle. I honestly didn’t see it as a product flaw and I do have a replacement on the way. Were it to happen a second time I would see it as a product flaw but, at least this time out, I honestly viewed it as “user error.” That’s why I’m going to still be using this.
I should, however, have clarified with more detail since I mentioned it. The point is well-taken and will be kept in mind in the future.

Thanks. So you have a replacement on the way – was that at your expense? Or (since yours is supplied by company) if it happened to me would a replacement be at my expense or free?

I’m just comparing it to Zagg – w/ their lifetime guarantee program

        • It is an excellent question and I will try to find out the answer. In my case it was through the review process so I cannot say for sure. I do know that they have a guarantee but will check the terms and also reach out and ask.

          • Question asked and immediately answered…

“There is a one year limited warranty on this product that will cover any defect of the actual product. However, the warranty is voided if the phone is dropped or the screen protector has been removed.

That being said, BodyGuardz knows life happens to screen protectors, so they created the Advantage Replacements Program. Anything not considered a defect in the product will be covered under the Advantage Program. This will allow you to order a replacement for your protector at anytime and for any reason, for life – ensuring that you never have to pay full price for a screen protector again. There is a small processing fee for this replacement that will cover the shipping and handling, but it is a fraction of the cost of a first time purchase.

The replacement cost for the ScreenGuardz Pure + The Crown under the Advantage Program is $12.99. As a member of the Advantage Program, you also receive 20% off any other BodyGuardz products online.

You can learn more about the program here:
