Thanks to a combination of genetics and medications I take I developed high blood pressure a few years ago. It is generally controlled through medication, but I do need to check it regularly. The MOCAcuff from MOCACARE is a fast and convenient way to check it regularly.

Over the years I have tried a few different blood pressure monitors. All of them work by wrapping a cuff around your bicep in a manner similar to how they check your blood pressure at the doctor’s office. The MOCAcuff takes a different approach. It wraps around your wrist rather than your upper arm. It has a digital readout and can be used on its own, but it also connects to the iPhone and, via the MOCACARE app, uses the smartphone as the brains of the system for greening advanced information and recording data. Perhaps best of all, the MOCAcuff is under $60.

The small size of the MOCAcuff means you can take it with you when you travel. Simple to set up and use, The MOCAcuff makes it easy to track your blood pressure anywhere, anytime.

EFFORTLESS MONITORING: Without sacrificing accuracy, MOCAcuff was designed with your style and comfort in mind, making it easy to incorporate blood pressure monitoring into your everyday routine – whenever, and wherever you are.

The system uses two AAA batteries, and because it ships with the batteries, you can be up and running in a matter of seconds.

You turn on the MOCAcuff by pressing the button once. Press a second time once it is wrapped around your wrist, and it begins the measurement process.

The measurement process takes just a few seconds. When it is done, the screen displays your heart rate and blood pressure. I’m not a member of the medical profession, so I also appreciate the fact that along with the numerical readings the MOCAcuff also provides a color-coded indicator that corresponds to the American Heart Association’s (AHA) blood pressure categories. Usually knowledge is power but, in this case, knowledge is also about good health.

As noted, there is an app that accompanies the MOCAcuff. Once the smartphone is paired with the cuff and a reading is taken, a single tap of the button sends your measurement to the app. Once there, it takes just a few seconds, and then your history is synced wirelessly. This, in turn, helps you organize your health data and records, track your readings and, with that information, gives you a chance to improve your health and take steps to achieve your health goals.

ACTIONABLE INSIGHTS TO IMPROVE YOUR HEALTH: Receive expertly curated health recommendations from AHA. Taking these tips to heart? See how your health is improving daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly through the app’s user-friendly Trends view.

Of course, none of this would matter if the MOCAcuff didn’t do its job properly. The good news here is that the “MOCAcuff adheres to and meets strict medical standards worldwide. It has received FDA-clearance in the United States.”

Finally, if you are one of those people who likes to share your health information with those nearest to you (or with your physician), the MOCACARE App not only stores your health data securely, but it also lets you share your results with physicians and loved ones through the HIPAA-compliant messaging platform.

The MOCAcuff is small. It measures 2.91 X 2.93 X 1.20 inches and weighs about 3.44 oz. Using Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.0 / BLE the two AAA batteries are good for about 200 measurements. The MOCACARE App is compatible with devices running iOS 8+, Android 4.0.3+, Bluetooth 4.0 BLE or later.

The MOCAcuff is easy to use and is small enough to take with you if you travel. Despite its small size and simplicity, however, this blood pressure monitoring system offers some great information and will let you track your blood pressure over an extended period of time. Add in the fact that it is inexpensive, and you end up with an affordable way top add another layer to your personal healthcare routine. Check it out here.
