The MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset has just been announced, and it’s ready to disrupt everything we thought we knew about Android smartphone processing. This flagship boasts an “All Big Core” design that promises to revolutionize how we experience Android devices and smartphones in the future. Not only does All Big Core deliver exceptional performance, but it also promises an unparalleled user experience, whether you’re into gaming, video capture, or on-device generative AI processing.
One of the key components enhancing the MediaTek Dimensity 9300’s performance is the next-generation accelerated processing unit (APU) 790 AI processor, which has been seamlessly integrated into this chipset. It will significantly improve generative AI performance and energy efficiency, doubling the integer and floating-point operations performance while reducing power consumption by 45%.
The APU 790 also introduces mixed-precision INT4 quantization technology, paired with NeuroPilot memory hardware compression, to maximize memory bandwidth utilization and reduce memory requirements for large AI models.
In essence, this chip paves the way for powerful generative artificial intelligence (AI) experiences across text, images, and music.
For all the gaming enthusiasts out there, the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 comes equipped with Arm’s latest flagship graphics processing unit (GPU), the Immortalis-G720. This combination results in a significant 46% boost in GPU performance, all while maintaining the same power consumption as the previous generation.
In fact, the Dimensity 9300 reduces GPU power consumption by 40% while delivering top-tier performance, ensuring an impressive upgrade without compromising battery life.
But the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 isn’t just about gaming – it’s here to elevate your photography and video capture experiences!
Thanks to its low-power AI image signal processing (AI-ISP) and always-on high dynamic range (HDR) capabilities, you can shoot up to 4K resolution at 60fps with real-time bokeh tracking for professional-quality enhancements. The chipset also supports the new Ultra HDR format in Android 14, making your photos more vibrant and universally compatible.
The Dimensity 9300’s display system is equally impressive. It uses AI to detect primary objects and background images in real-time and, coupled with the MiraVision Picture Quality engine, dynamically adjusts contrast, sharpness, and color, resulting in lifelike video experiences comparable to today’s top-of-the-line digital televisions.
Connectivity is a pivotal aspect of the user experience, and the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 doesn’t disappoint. It supports Wi-Fi 7 speeds of up to 6.5 Gbps, and MediaTek’s Xtra Range Technology ensures better long-range connectivity. With Multi-Link Hotspot technology, you can enjoy smartphone tethering speeds up to 3 times faster than competitive solutions.
In addition to these features, the Dimensity 9300 offers a range of cutting-edge capabilities, such as a powerful octa-core central processing unit (CPU), support for faster display speeds, seamless 5G connectivity, and speedy memory support.
Finally, security is a top priority with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300. Its privacy-focused security design will safeguard your data from physical attacks and protect crucial processes during boot-up. Plus, the Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 processors are built on Arm’s latest v9 architecture, supporting advanced Memory Tagging Extension (MTE) technology to ensure user safety and accelerate the development process.
The Dimensity 9300 is MediaTek’s most powerful flagship chip yet, bringing a huge boost in raw computing power to flagship smartphones with our groundbreaking All Big Core design. This unique architecture, combined with our upgraded on-chip AI Processing Unit, will usher in a new era of generative AI applications as developers push the limits with edge AI and hybrid AI computing capabilities. – Joe Chen, Mediatek President
The first smartphones featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset are expected to hit the market by the end of 2023, and we’ll be sure to point out the devices using it as they’re reviewed.
