It is time for another Gear Diary “Gear vs Gear”. Today’s competitors are the Phiaton PS 20 BT Bluetooth Stereo Headset and the Jabra Clipper Bluetooth Stereo Headset.

Both let you cut the cord. Both let you listen to music and make/take calls. Both let you clip the battery, microphone and controls to your shirt so you don’t have a heavy portion hanging off your ears. And both… quite honestly, are good options. Yes, in this head-to-head both decisions are good but, in the end, you’ll want to purchase just one so the question remains… which one? Here’s our video look followed by some details on each.

What Needs Improvement: Cannot use different headphones since they are permanently attached; I worry the control button will eventually break; Larger and more pronounced than the CLIPPER

What I Like: Small; Works well; Available in a variety of colors; Ability to BYOH (bring your own headphones); Low profile etc; Low profile

What Needs Improvement: Controls not totally intuitive; included headphones are okay but not great; No lanyard

SUMMARY:

So both accessories work well, sound good, and are priced under $100. I can honestly recommend both without reservation and have a difficult time picking one over the other. So what is the bottom line?

If you want something as inexpensive as possible get the CLIPPER. It works well, comes from a company we know and trust and the included headphones are good enough. If you get them and want to improve the sound you can simply upgrade the headphones.

If you are willing to spend more, want better quality in the included ear bids and are looking for an accessory that will stand out and draw attention go for the Phiaton.
