Grab and Go with the SuperTooth Disco4

NewImage

We reviewed the Supertooth Disco and were blown away by the unique look and amazing sound. (Read the review.) We reviewed its update a year later, as well as the Disco Twin that offers left and right speakers. Now the company is back with the SuperTooth Disco4. It offers NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, a unique design, and a mind-blowing price.

The super tooth Disco4 is the smallest and lightest Disco yet. This handheld speaker has a low profile and includes a permanent carrying strap so you can pick it up and carry it with you on your journeys. After the “winter that never ended” it is perfect for the nice spring days that are (hopefully) on the way.

As Yves Le Reun, Vice President of Sales & Marketing explains when speaking about the latest addition to their lineup,

SuperTooth’s longstanding expertise in the Bluetooth space allows us to roll out the best new technology – such as NFC pairing – at the most affordable price. Our products are designed to provide the best quality, most power and overall greatest value within their respective price points. This is why SuperTooth has built such a loyal following over the years, leading to partnerships with eminent brands like Acoustic Research, owned by Audiovox, and a 45% market share worldwide in the Bluetooth speakerphone space.

I had not realized the company had 45% of the worldwide market share in the Bluetooth speakerphone space, but I am not surprised to find that that is the case. Their affordable products have, time and again, impressed me.

The SuperTooth Disco4 boasts 8 watts, a bass reflex system, and a lithium-ion battery that charges via USB. You can stream music wirelessly for 3-12 hours per 2 hour charge. This does, of course, depend on the volume level at which it is played. Inside the speaker is Bluetooth 4.0, A2DP and NFC. It can pair with a maximum of eight devices at once, although only one device can be connected at a time. At 5″ tall by 6″ wide and 5″ deep, the speaker — which weighs just over a pound — is small and light enough to take pretty much anywhere.

I’m impressed by the sound put out by the speaker. It gets loud and sounds quite good for something so small. Where this speaker really shines is in its ability to sound as good as it does for an MSRP of under $50. That’s an amazing price, and it is sure to make this speaker hugely popular when it begins shipping. Learn more here.

MSRP: $49

What I Like: Small and simple to use; Handle makes it easy to carry; Decent battery life per 2 hours charge; Amazingly good for the low price the company is asking

What Needs Improvement: We’ve seen better battery life from Bluetooth speakers; No included carry bag; Unusual design won’t appeal to everyone
