I’ve long been an advocate for making music on the Apple iPad – to me it has been a key reason to always have one by my side. But while it is a great device to allow for chaining up synthesizers and recording occasional audio one track at a time, that has been pretty much the end – until now.
HTC unveiled its new 5G Mobile Smart Hub. Designed to “harness 5G speeds for home, business, and everywhere in between” the device stands out as one of the more unique devices on display at Mobile World Congress 2019.

The Sony Xperia line of phones has long been one of our favorites. The Xperia Z2 was the first “phablet” I owned. I loved it. The line has gotten better and better with each iteration. Now Sony takes things to a new level with the Xperia 1. The Z is gone, but the phone looks amazing.
In addition to the flagship Xperia 1, Sony just announced the mid-range Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus. Each has a 21:9 Wide Full HD+ display with a borderless design. That translates to an expanded viewing area enjoying videos. It also means you can run two apps simultaneously and not feel overly cramped when doing so.
One of the MWC announcements that most captured my attention was for the new Lenovo Tab V7. An affordable 7” tablet, the Tab V7 is ideal for someone who doesn’t want the expense, or the juggling act, of carrying a phone and a tablet. It blurs the line between the two categories.
Lenovo has high-end business computers covered, but they create some excellent consumer devices as well. Their IdeaPad line is for everyday computing, and the new lineup covers everything you could possibly want, from simple to powerful to all-in-one devices.

If you’re a fan of physical keyboards, you’ve no doubt been keeping up with the newest BlackBerrys. We’ve reviewed the KEYone and the KEY2, but they were both quite businesslike. The new BlackBerry KEY2 Red Edition, however, looks sporty, fun, and it has updated features!
If you read my Huawei MateBook 13 review, you’ll know that I am a huge fan of the 3:2 aspect ratio on a laptop’s screen. If you are, too (or even if you’re just curious about it), you’ll want to check out the updated MateBook X Pro and the brand new MateBook 14.
At MWC 2019, if you didn’t bring a folding screen of some kind to show the press, then you brought a knife to a gunfight! Huawei brought a big gun, however, and the new Huawei Mate X is a spectacular example of a folding screen done right.
