I’ve found my favorite wireless charging car mount and it’s the Moshi SnapTo Magnetic Car Mount with Wireless charging. Moshi’s sleek car mount is small in stature but strong enough to hold up my iPhone XS Max using their patented SnapTo system. Moshi also offers a SnapTo wall mount, however, a Moshi brand SnapTo case is required for both.

The Moshi SnapTo Magnetic Car Mount with Wireless charging is a bit of a mouthful, so I think I’ll stick to SnapTo Car Mount for the rest of this review. However, wireless charging is a strong feature of this car mount. It’s super convenient to be able to stick your phone up on the dashboard without the need to use a physical/friction mount and have it automatically start charging as well. The wireless charger is Qi certified and is compatible with any Android or iPhone with wireless charging capabilities, up to 10W. The SnapTo case perfectly aligns the phone on the mount to ensure optimal charging.

The same mount can be used as an air vent clip or a dashboard mount.

As I mentioned, due to the strong magnets inside the SnapTo case, there’s no need for any sort of friction mount so you just stick the phone against the mount and it stays there. This is incredibly convenient if you’re getting into the car with kids or have something in your other hand. It’s also nice to just be able to grab your phone as your getting out of the car without having to disengage any physical grasping mount.

I’ve found it to be my favorite magnetic wireless charging mount for a few reasons. First, the magnets hold my phone very well and I haven’t found my phone to jiggle or slide around at all; it just stays put. Second, I already use a Moshi case, so the fact that I can use the phone case I love (Moshi Vesta) with the mount makes it a perfect match. However, I can understand that it might be frustrating to be required to use one of Moshi’s specially designed SnapTo phone cases, beautiful as they may be.

Moshi’s SnapTo Car Mount with Wireless Charging can hold your phone in either portrait or landscape orientation, which is nice for those who like to use landscape mode for GPS but use portrait mode for everything else like music or podcasts. This is something that not all car mounts can do, so it’s a feature I appreciate.

The downsides to me are fairly minor, as I haven’t found them to affect my daily use of the car mount, but potential buyers should keep them in mind:

  1. The car mount uses a 3M adhesive pad to stick directly to your dashboard. Some folks shy away from this, but since I already had a suction-cup type disc stuck to my dash already, it was a good landing spot.
  2. There is no suction cup option to either stick to your dashboard or your car windshield.
  3. It requires a USB jack to power the wireless charging, however, it does not come with a DC 12V (cigarette lighter) adapter. Many modern cars have USB jacks, but not all do.
  4. It requires a Moshi brand SnapTo compatible case. As I mentioned, I’ve been using the Moshi Vesta since I reviewed it, so this wasn’t an issue for me. However, if/when I do change my iPhone case, I’ll need to find another car mount solution.

There are definitely positives and negatives to Moshi’s SnapTo Magnetic Car Mount with Wireless Charging, however for me, it is the perfect car mount since it meets my needs to a tee. It’s easy to use, holds my phone securely, wirelessly charges automatically, and its compatible with my phone case.

You can purchase the SnapTo Magnetic Car Mount with Wireless Charging as well as the SnapTo Wall Mount directly from Moshi at Moshi.com.  The SnapTo Car Mount with Wireless Charging retails for $59.95 while the SnapTo Wall Mount retails for $18.95.

What I Like: Small size; Powerful magnetic hold; Wirelessly charges your phone; Can be used in portrait or landscape mode

What Needs Improvement: Requires 3M adhesive to stick to car dashboard; No suction cup option available; Requires USB jack however does not come with DC 12V adapter (cigarette lighter); Requires a Moshi SnapTo case, not universal with all cases
