The Ooma Butterfleye we reviewed back in 2018 was a great home security camera that I still use to this day, but there were a few things I’d hoped Ooma would eventually update. Seems they listened, as Ooma has announced their next generation Ooma Smart Cam with more to love and view — in, or out of their home.
The Funai corporation is making a huge wave with their 4K announcements here at CES 2019, with the company partnering with Magnavox to release 4K UHD series televisions that come with Roku built-in!
Over the past year, I’ve traveled to quite a few places, some with the shadiest unsecured internet you can imagine, from Starbucks to hotels in different countries, and I gained a bit more peace of mind thanks to my virtual private network, or VPN of choice – NordVPN.
In recent years, people have started to collect all sorts of personal data. The popularity of fitness trackers has inspired techies and non-techies alike to actively monitor their health using technology.
Neverwinter Nights (NWN) is a 2002 PC role-playing game (RPG) developed by Bioware as the follow-up to their classic Baldur’s Gate II: Shadows of Amn, which is regarded as one of the greatest games ever made.
Over the past four to five years I’ve been paying Dropbox and Google Drive monthly to house my confidential and personal files, and I’ve always wondered about an alternative to the monthly fees. Then I was introduced to the Apollo Cloud 2 Duo, a storage device available in 4 or 8 terabytes.
Just a few years ago, Judie wrote an article about Skyroam, and how great of a product it is when traveling abroad. As someone who travels a lot stateside, but still is looking for a solid connection everywhere I go, the Skyroam piqued my interest with their new GoData Initiative. Let’s take a look at the new way of staying connected.
Drones are awesome. They look cool, often take impressive photos and videos and are just fun to fly. Sadly, my drone experience has put me on track to get a doctorate in “drone crashing.” Seriously, when it comes to flying a drone, I suck. Then I got to review the AEE MACH 1. It’s as easy as it is awesome.
My weeks are filled with meetings. In addition to various weekly meetings with my staff, with students becoming bar or bat mitzvah, and with my various boards, I have numerous meetings each week connected to upcoming weddings and funerals. The Royole RoWrite is a notepad for the digital age, and it is my new best “work-friend.” Reasonably priced, it works.
One thing I have missed using Android, rather than iOS as my main phone, is the ability to send and receive messages on my phone, tablet or laptop. And while Android still has a long way to go to get close to the functionality or usability of iMessage, they have taken a step in the right direction with Android Messages for Web.

Monument Valley is a great portable game – it was Apple’s ‘ Game of the Year’ for 2014 and won countless ‘best game’ awards for iOS and Android that year. And while the sequel is also available, the original game remains beloved, and it tends to be the one I jump to more often than not.

Newton Mail, formally called CloudMagic, has been one of many third-party emails that I’ve used after being generally displeased with the stock iOS mail app. Featuring everything from Sent Receipts to fellow third-party app integration’s, Newton Mail’s new “True Inbox” feature is a helpful new way to tackle your mailbox.
Philips has set the goal to improve the lives of 3 billion people per year by 2025, and part of the way that they hope to achieve this goal is by bridging the gap between consumer and professional health. To that end, at the IFA GPC, Philips’s Liat Ben-Zur talked about the importance of healthy sleep.
Buerer is a European company that’s been around for almost 100 years; their focus is health and well-being. At the IFA GPC, their Managing Director, Georg Walkenbach, mentioned that they currently have 12 apps and 60 connected devices. Georg mentioned several of their health-focused device and app combos, but the one I really took note of was their SleepQuiet app.
One of the best fitness and sleep trackers I’ve ever reviewed, the Motiv Ring, has just become even better. Starting today, Motiv adds integration with Alexa, you can buy it on Amazon, and there’s even good news about Android beta testing!
At CES, I served as a judge for Last Gadget Standing. One of the finalists was the Modius Headset. It particularly caught my interest because the presenters claimed that wearing this headset for 45 – 60 minutes a day over an 8-week period could significantly reduce your weight and body fat — without necessarily changing diet or exercise. Wait, what?!
Concur’s TripIt app just continues to get better and better, and continues to be my personal favorite for travel organization. Without its automatic emailing features and boarding arrangements, I’d truly be lost. So it’s no surprise that their latest feature makes traveling that much easier.
Smart toothbrushes have been around for a few years, and all, for the most part, have the same premise: Making sure you’re teeth are clean, while giving you a better glance at how well (or not) you are doing so. Then there’s the Kollibree Ara Toothbrush, which uses artificial intelligence endgames to encourage longer brushing.
