Atomic9 Bluetooth Speakerphone Wristband- Dick Tracy Would Love This! – Review

Let’s face it, technology has finally gotten to the point where some of the gadgets we lusted after in cartoons and science fiction programs as children are now becoming a reality. I mean, the iPhone does even more than a Star Trek communicator (well everything but communicate intergalactically but I’m sure that is coming). The iPad looks like one of the tablet information devices that were so common in scifi shows 30 years ago. And Dick Tracy’s 2-Way Wrist Radio (first introduced on January 13th, 1946 and then upgraded to a 2-Way Wrist TV in 1964) how cool was that?!?!?…

Here’s a quick look at what is on the way… The Fondina This lateral style case offers an open design with light and rigid protective construction for durability and accessibility. Waterfield Unveils Two Ways To Protect Your iPhone 4

Just because you can’t get through Apple’s servers to order your new iPhone 4 doesn’t mean you shouldn’t and can’t make arrangements for it when (if??) it ever arrives. Fortunately Waterfield is rolling out some protection for the new iPhone. Right now there are two offerings but I suspect more will be on the way. The nice thing about both of Waterfield’s initial offerings is that they are slip case that protect the phone when it is in your bag or pocket but slide off the phone during use. In light of the iPhone 4’s sleek design I suspect a…

JHAudio JH5 Custom In-Ear Monitors- Review

I love items that are custom-made. I love custom suits. I love custom shirts. I even like the custom skin I made for my iPad. But I never thought I would get a chance to use and review a pair of custom headphones. Well, thanks to JHAudio I’ve had just that opportunity. For the last week and a half I have been using their JH5 custom in-ear monitors. The monitors were custom-made from molds of my ears. Does it make a difference? Let’s take a look. But first… let’s look at the steps it took to get them made. From…

Aluratek Drops a Brick (For Your iPhone, That Is)

When I think of a brick, I either think of the actual structural element from which buildings are constructed, or I think of any electronic device that seems unnecessarily large and cumbersome.  Now, Aluratek wants us to reimagine the word as an audio component. Aluratek is releasing their latest product, the Brick Speaker Dock for iPhone/iPod this week.  Aluratek boasts that the Brick offers high-quality sound at an affordable price.  It will work with the iPod Touch, iPhone, and any iPod model with a click wheel.  As it includes a 3.5mm auxiliary input, the Brick can also be used with other mp3 players. …

iHome iP88 Review

I’ve been using the Sony ICF-CL75iP as my bed side clock since I reviewed back in November.  While the Sony does a ton, arguably  more than any alarm clock on the market, it’s not without its faults.  Most prevalent, it only has one dock and the screen is so bright it sometimes keeps me up. While on a recent shopping trip with my wife at a “home” store I stumbled across the iHome iP88 and on impulse snatched it up. Here’s how iHome describes the unit: The iP88 is an innovative clock radio for iPhone & iPod that features two docks allowing you…

CableJive dockXtender Review

Last summer I reviewed the CableJive Dock Extender cable.  This 30-pin male to female cable allowed iPhone and iPod Touch users who use a case to dock their devices without removing their case to do so.  Many dock accessories (clock radios, charge and sync docks, speakers) do not accommodate the iPhone or iPod Touch while it’s in a case. However, there was one problem with that version of the Dock Extender.  The connector plug was too large to fit inside some cases, perhaps most importantly the super-popular OtterBox Defender. Well, fast forward to today. CableJive has corrected the short coming…

Scosche flipSYNC USB 2.0 Charge and Sync Cable for iPod & iPhone – Review

A few weeks ago I was in my office and realized that I needed to charge my iPhone but did not have a sync/charging cable. Turns out I had brought it home for some reason and never brought it back. Fortunately I have moved a number of my colleagues over to the iPhone so I simply walked across the hall and briefly borrowed my associate’s cable. That will never happen again since the Scosche flipSYNC I pre-ordered a while back came last week. Let’s take a look. The flipSYNC is one of those simple ideas that Scosche is great about…

Sena Walletbook for iPhone 3GS Review

The other day I reviewed the Sena Folio for iPad. It has quickly become my favorite, and most-used, iPad case. I love the refined look, the flawless leather of it and the way it protects my iPad so thoroughly. Sena offers a wide range of options for the iPad. In fact, they have cases for pretty much every popular device. That includes the iPhone 3GS. And while the next gen iPhone is likely on the way 3GS owners are only a year into their contract. That means there is no time like the present to wrap your precious iPhone in…

Clear-Coat Protects Your Gadgets

Larry swears by Clear-Coat, one of the up and coming scratch protectors for a wide range of devices. As I wrote yesterday, he didn’t even open his iPad 3G on Friday but instead opted to immediately take it to the Clear-Coat cart near him. That way he was guaranteed that his device would be protected from the first minute of its use. Larry had sent me Clear-Coats to try for both my iPhone 3GS and my iPad. I installed them myself and found the process to be easy enough. I am happy to say that, thanks to Clear-Coat, I am…

WirelessGround Touch Screen Stylus Review: Reduces iPad Fingerprints

Fingerprints.  It’s perhaps my biggest pet peeve about the iPad’s glorious screen.  It’s one gigantic fingerprint magnet.  Unless you plan on joining the Men In Black (they remove your fingerprints) it’s something you just have to deal with.  Unless of course you find some other way to use your iPad without touching the screen with your finger. Enter the WirelessGround Touch Screen Stylus Pen.  The stylus, which is available in Black, Purple, Blue or Pink, features a soft tip which gives your more precise control when tapping on your screen and allows you to do so with using your finger….

Review: Altec Lansing IMT320 inMotion Compact

I love Altec Lansing products.  I have the inMotion Classic iPod Dock and I use it quite a bit.  However, sometimes you need a speaker dock that is a little more compact and simpler to use than the inMotion Classic.  That’s where the inMotion Compact comes in. The inMotion Compact looks a lot like the Classic, but it lacks the FM Radio, the integrated battery, remote and integrated display.  The only controls on it are power and volume; all controls are on the top near the center of the dock. The rear of the dock hides the power cord’s port,…

Native Union Moshi Moshi 02 Review

I enjoy reviewing gear.  I enjoy it even more when the product I’m reviewing just makes sense.  Such is the case with the Native Union Moshi Moshi 02. I still have a land line at home, but I know many people do not.  With today’s unlimited long distance mobile plans and even more companies offering unlimited everything, more and more people are choosing to rely on their mobile phone’s at home and well as on the road. If’ there’s one thing I’ve always struggled with when using my mobile phone at home for extended periods of time, it’s the comfort…

Beats By Dr. Dre Solo HD Red Review

We all love buying new gear.  That’s why we’re here right?  But when is the last time you bought an amazing gadget and made a donation to a worthy charity at the same time? The Beats By Dr. Dre Solo HD Red headphones not only look and sound great (we’ll get to that in the review), but a portion of the profits from every pair of headphones sold goes directly to the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa. These headphones are made from a proprietary titanium coated driver technology ensures they preserve every “bit of the lush bass and…

Joby Gorillamobile for iPod touch Review

I have been a big fan of the Joby Gorillamobile since it was first released for the iPhone. I love the bendable flexible tripod that allows me to have my iPhone securely attached to just about any surface and then held there for pictures. One of the best uses for it is to set up the iPhone in a specific place using the tripod and then allow the iPhone to take a series of time-lapse pictures. It works beautifully and, because of the excellent design and build quality of the tripod, I feel secure that my iPhone isn’t going to…

The Amazing Miniot iWood Cobra iPhone Case

When Larry posted about the Case-Mate Mohogany Wood Case, I was smitten — there’s no other way to put it. I loved the look of the rich red wood on the iPhone, and I was thrilled when he sent it to me after the review was complete. I used the heck out of that case, even though it added quite a bit of bulk to my iPhone, and even though it had a flaw which turned out to be fatal. It wasn’t evident from the beginning that the lack of a cutout might be a problem, but because the bottom…

Destinator 9 for iPhone Review

The iTunes App Store is filled with GPS applications.  Destinator 9 from Intrinsyc is the latest addition to the category. Destinator has been running on a variety of other mobile devices and GPS units for a while now and it’s achieved a large following. The iPhone version of the application brings a rich, featured filled GPS client complete with real time traffic updates, on-board maps, voice guided directions, extended POIs and more. I recently downloaded the free trial of Destinator 9 from the App Store and took it out on the road for a drive. Here are my thoughts.

V-MODA Remix Headphones Review

Image courtesy of V-MODA There’s some old saying the goes along the lines of “you’re only as good as the people around you.”  I feel the same way towards the relationship between my iPod or my iPhone and the headphones I use with each.  I may have the largest, most comprehensive music collection on the planet loaded on each of them but unless I’ve chosen a pair of headphones that allow me to listen to the music in decent quality what good is it? I’ve carried a pair of V-MODA Vibe Duo headphones religiously for the past year or so. …
