It is not uncommon for one person to now have a smartphone, a tablet, a smartwatch and wireless headphones. All share one thing in common — they all need to be charged. That’s where the Satechi Smart Charging Stand comes in! For under $35 it keeps all of them charged and your desk or nigh table neat and organized.

With so many mobile devices requiring regular charging, it can be difficult to avoid a nest of cables. Sure, you can have a power strip with multiple adapter plugs plugged in. But that can be a disorganized mess. Or you can use one of the increasingly ubiquitous rectangular USB charging bricks. They work fine but look bulky and easily become a mess as well. The Satechi Smart Charging Stand takes this latter accessory’s approach but does it one better. The stand is small, so it takes up limited space. It has three USB ports on the front, so they are easily accessed. And it has a fourth USB charger that is hidden beneath a multifunctional stand.

The Satechi Smart Charging Stand comes with the charging stand, a two-prong US AC cord, and four different inserts for use with the top of the stand. There is an adapter for the Apple Watch charging cable. There is a second adapter for use with the Fitbit Blaze. There is a third adapter for use with a smartphone. And, for those who do not need the fourth USB charging port that is on the stand, there is a dummy plug that can be inserted to give it a more finished look. It is worth noting that none of the cables are included but, if you are looking into an accessory like this, odds are you already have the cables and adapters you need.)

As the company notes:

The Satechi Smart Charging Stand charges, docks, and showcases your Apple Watch, FitBit Blaze, or smartphone. Designed with convenience in mind, simply place your device atop the stand for hands-free access whiles your device charges. Featuring an additional three USB ports at the base, you can charge up to 4 USB-powered devices at once. Colors come in silver, gold, and space gray.

As mentioned, the stand lets you charge four different devices at the same time.

Simultaneously Charge Your Devices: The Smart Charging Stand features one USB port inside the stand and three USB ports on the base of the stand, enabling you to charge up to 4 USB-powered devices at once. Please note that charging cable are not included.

As mentioned, the stand lets you charge four different devices at the same time. My setup looks like this: I put a USB to Lightning cable inside the stand and fed the cable up through the hole in the top. I then used the smartphone adapter to create a night stand for my iPhone. (I should note that the cable does not lock into the smartphone adapter, so I am careful to not have the Lightning portion of the cable fall inside the stand. I then put on USB to Lightning cable in one of the three USB ports on the front and USN to micro USB cables in the two remaining ports on the front. This means I’m now able to charge my phone, my iPad, my in-ear headphones and my over-the-ear headphones at the same time each night. Plus, I get the added benefit that my iPhone is not a bedside clock!

Cable Management and Storage: The inner space of the stand is ideal for storing little gadgets like USB adapters, card readers, etc., and helping you coil the charging cable neatly, making your nightstand neat and manageable.

It is worth noting that the space inside the stand is large enough to hold all of the extra cable while still having enough space for a few small items. I’m not using it this way, but it is good to know I can if the need arises.

Three Included Adapters: The Smart Charging Stand comes equipped with three adapters-one for your Apple Watch, one for your FitBit Blaze, and one for your smartphone. Simply choose your adapter, and fasten it to the station lid to charge the device of your choosing.

If I were still using my Apple Watch or my Fitbit Blaze I could easily have opted for one of those adapters instead of the smartphone holder. That would keep my smartwatch charged and allow IT to serve as my bedside clock since the Smart Charging Stand works with the Apple Watch in Nightstand Mode. I do love the fact that the company saw fit to include all of the various adapters!

The other option I considered was putting the dummy plug in the top of the stand and give it a nice, finished look. If I took this route, I would have put a short USB to micro USB cable inside and used it to charge a pair of my in-ear wireless headphones. The key here would be the fact that the headphones could sit hidden inside the stand until I needed to use them.

Smart Charging Technology: Power and Voltage Boost combine to charge up to 5V/2.4A Max per port for a total of 6 Amps, each port can automatically detects your device, allowing you to charge your Apple Watch, FitBit Blaze, and iPad, iPhone, Bose Radio or any other devices at the same time without any delay.

All of this is great, but if the Smart Charging Stand didn’t deliver a serious charge to my devices, it would be worthless. Fortunately, as the product name indicates, this stand is smart enough to deliver the charge you need. With up to 5V/2.4A Max per port for a total of 6 Amps per port and smart charge technology, you can be confident the stand will not only keep your accessories charged but will also do so in a manner that protects their delicate electronics.

The Smart Charging Stand is just 3.5″, 2.99″, 3.5″ and weighs in at just 8.16 ounces. Compatible with Apple Watch, Fitbit Blaze, and almost any USB-powered device. It is available in silver, gold, space gray and rose gold so you can choose the color that best fits your iPhone. I set it up next to my bed and am pleased with the small size and the flexibility regarding which devices I can charge. At $34.99 it is a good deal although I would have preferred that Satechi include a few short cables and charge a bit more. Still, since a key aspect of this product is its flexibility, each person purchasing this will have their own needs and desired setup. For me, it has taken a place on my nightstand so I wake up with all my devices charged each day. You can check it out and order yours here.

What Needs Improvement: I wish the company included a few short-throw cables with the product
